  1. Very rude to have people wait this long to send a generic email
  2. " Thank you for your interest in our Learning, Teaching, and Diversity graduate program. I am sorry to have to inform you that our review of your application and credentials did not lead to a recommendation of admission. If you have applied to more than one Vanderbilt program, you will receive a separate communication regarding your application to each program. The Graduate School at Vanderbilt University receives applications from many outstanding candidates. Unfortunately, limited resources and competition among well-qualified applicants preclude our offering admission to all who seek it. Please know that your application and supporting materials received a close and careful review. Admissions decisions are difficult, both for faculty who review applications and for applicants who await notification. I regret having to send you this disappointing news, but I wish you every success in the pursuit of your educational goals. "
  3. I called Peabody admissions and they transferred me to somebody in the committee. I suppose it is possible that people may decline their offers which may open the door to getting an acceptance. But I am considering this closed. For reference, I was specifically told that I should be making other plans
  4. Just called. I was told that if you have not heard anything then you are not considered to be in the running. Not sure why they have not sent out rejections if this is the case
  5. Did you get invited to any interviews? Or have you heard anything from them? I was not invited to anything, but am told that not every program holds them. I have not seen any sign that anybody has been accepted to the program I applied to, so I am hoping that means I am actually still in the running.
  6. Still waiting to hear back about my application. I have not been rejected, but have not been invited to anything or had any communication. I have 2 masters degrees in education that are very relevant to my field. I have a high GPA, solid but not great GRE, and 5 incredible letters of recommendation. I do not have publications, but I am also involved in a research project (which will lead to publications and conferences), and am active in 2 graduate organizations. Would like to hear back soon as I have been accepted elsewhere, but prefer to go to Vanderbilt.
  7. In regards to my second query: I called the admissions office and was told to send in a summary of my new research/contributions, and that it would be added to my file. After doing so I got a response back saying they could not consider the additional information.
  8. I have been accepted into the PhD program at UC and the letter says I have 15 days to accept the offer to enroll. However, I am awaiting word on an application to Vanderbilt. They say I may not hear back for another 30 days or so. What should I do in a case like this? Also, since my application to Vanderbilt went in I have engaged in a plethora of other research, presentations, and pending publications. Is it acceptable to email admissions at Vanderbilt to make them aware of my additional experiences? I will have 2 possible publications, 2 conferences, and an updated GPA since then. Thoughts?
