  1. Pretty far ranging interview. Sit-down with a five-member faculty committee. More or less about your background, research interests, why the IFA, etc. No real curveballs--the questions were clearly based off my application and what was in my file. Definitely bring questions of your own and be prepared in terms of what about your file you want to highlight though. Plenty of opportunity to direct the conversation your way.
  2. Thanks for the congratulations! The email came from the department administrator but was written and signed from the director of graduate studies, who is also my POI. However the letter was not personal (more like an official departmental offer) and included funding information etc. saying official letter from the Graduate School would follow in the next few days. It also said that the faculty most close to your area of interest would call today or tomorrow, and my POI called me this afternoon. For what its worth he said it was an extraordinarily competitive application class.
  3. Haven't heard a darn thing for a week and a half--officially or unofficially. This week I would guess/hope? Their spring break starts Saturday so it has got to be before then...
  4. I'm also in NYC and haven't heard from U-Chicago yet. From what I understood, Harvard's grad office (not the department) would be giving final decisions in the next week or two. I also had an informal interview with my POI at Princeton about 2.5 weeks ago (I think mostly gauging my interest), so I am assuming they are in a similar holding pattern as no one else has reported a decision yea or nay yet. I'm sure everything will be shaking out very quickly from this point on. Most the Ivy's seem to have spring break coming up mid- to late March so everything should be in place by then.
  5. No indication whether it was a blanket form email or potential advisee notification... Got a very personal response to a response. Best of luck.
  6. I received an email from the Director of Grad Studies (also my potential advisor). Said I had made it to the final round. 250 applications for less than 12 spots. Fingers crossed.
