  1. I am totally aware, that you Americans have a different point of view in terms of education and especially educational debt. I know that you have a horrendous amount of money to pay if you want to get decent education. Luckily we Europeans and especially Germans have a different system, that's funded by the state and ensures everybody can attend University. For example, I didn't pay a dime in tuition fees for my undergrad degree, so it's quite clear that from our point of view, tuition fees that are that high are making us think at least 3,4,5..10 times. I know that it must be awesome for you, coming from the states and overall Brain Capital seems like a solid deal, will be thinking about it as well.
  2. You won't find any trials on Brain Capital, as it is the first year that Hertie is offering this program. Still, Brain Capital has a whole network of funds throughout Germany to help students finance their studies. Most of the German private universities are part of that Network. It was founded as a Start Up Company at the top German Business School WHU and is for example also available at the renown Bucerius Law School. They also contacted me after I got atmitted, and I was quite surprised that Hertie is now part of this funding Network, because up til now I only heard about it through friends, who have been studying at these other schools. Sure it sounds awesome but at a second glance, it's really nothing more than a loan without interest, that can even double if you earn too much afterwards. I deem 9% quite high per month and I don't want to begin work-life with such a burden. But I guess for you Americans, who are used to educational-debt, loan-wise this is still cheap compared to your universities. Since I didn't get any funding, I guess I will have to look out for a solution. Not sure if Brain Capital is such a solution. On the other hand, it is also very difficult to get external scholarships.
  3. Wooooohoooooo, finally the wait is over!!!!! I got accepted to the MPP as well. After having heard nothing during the past weeks, I contacted the admissions office today and tadaaa, two hours later I got the mail saying I'll be in the class of 2018. What's quite surprising though, is that I didn't got accepted for the MIA (which I thought, is still inferior to the MPP). Never mind, I got my first choice and I am going crazy right now. So excited to be a part of this. I will have to wait on an answer on funding though - but I am gonna make it work somehow. I will not let this chance go away - classic YOLO. So excited to see you fellow guys later this year. Cheers!
  4. Tell me, at what time (CET) did you receive the mail or did you look it up online?
  5. Nice, congrats! But now I'm really going nuts on this waiting issue. When did you apply exactly? For both MPP/MIA, and may I ask what's the first letter of your last name? Just trying to find a pattern here and to predict when results are coming in. I was told via a source, that decisions are coming in definetly this week. As you can imagine, I'm sitting in the office right now, refreshing the website every "two seconds" As to the reputation of the School, I know that at least in Germany and especially in the EU the school is well known and very much respected as a top research institution. Of course I can't say anything about the US, but just look at the partner schools and double degrees and you might figure where Herties journey is going. As to the GRE results, I guess most of us Germans and Europeans don't take the GRE, because it's not very common for most of the IR/PP programs round here, this is of course only if you don't apply to "americanized schools" or even schools in the US. That being said, I suppose it's not that decisive, especially in a fin aid related way.
  6. Yes it's my top choice. The waiting is becoming more and more excruciating. I don't understand why I didn't hear back from them, although I applied 4 weeks ago. This is making me really nervous, as all other cases I know, got notice within 3 weeks tops. Did you receive an E-Mail in the meantime? I'm trying to find a pattern, how their admission cycle works but I can't find any consistency. Generally the admissions office doesn't seem to work under any SOPs, and leaves more of an amorphous impression.
  7. Hey there! Yeah, I applied as well (2/2/16) and ever since I've been checking the online Portal - It still says Evaluation. When did you apply? What does your status say exactly? As far as I heard, info coming in on fin aid can take up to 1 month or even longer.
