  1. Hey! We have a facebook group! There are just under 10 of us in it so far. Join us! Its: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1790594547841998/Laurier MSW 2016-2017, 2016-2018
  2. Congrats! Do you know if there's a group running already for those accepted? Are you attending for sure? Where are you coming from?
  3. Just got an offer of admission from Laurier (was on the waitlist). So happy and excited!, it was my first choice! Best of luck to everyone still waiting!
  4. I'd be down! I think thats a good idea.
  5. Let me know if you do decide to commute, especially if you're driving! Be happy to pitch on gas from Mississauga (Coming from Toronto Midtown)
  6. I'm in a tricky boat myself, as I have the added complication of a rescue dog that takes three days to warm up to every stranger, i.e. no roomies for me! This makes renting complicated already as some places don't like pets, but extra tricky because I don't want to deal with having to get him acquainted to roomies (and they probably don't want to deal with him ahaha as adorable as he is :-p). If any if you end up renting in Barrie and are driving in, let me know if you'd be willing to let me pitch on gas and pick me up from the Barrie go-transit terminal? Haha. Just looking over my options! I am a non-driving Torontonian in the process of her licence, but I offer good conversation, gas money and coffee With that said, I really wouldn't mind subletting my Toronto apartment and finding a place in Orillia until December if I can swing it. From what I read, december-april you still have one day on campus however, so maybe it's even worth renting for 8-10 months? I dont know, confused *sigh*.
  7. Hey guys, I just made a thread for those admitted to Lakehead Universities HBSW. The title is just "Lakehead University HBSW". I figured that I will soon start organizing myself as if I'm going there since it starts in July, if I don't hear back from the other two. It might be nice to throw around some ideas while figuring out living arrangements and other logistics :). For instance, I'm considering commuting from Toronto/subletting and getting a place there for 6 months/ moving out and heading there for the year. Anyone else thinking of commuting from the city? Meet me there if you might attend! Sarah
  8. For all those admitted to Lakehead Universities HBSW, whether you're trying to figure out living arrangements or still deciding on whether you'll attend.
  9. I just got into Lakehead's Orillia program too! U of t is a super competitive school, and I'd say don't give up- I've heard that the Advanced Standing program at U of T and everywhere else is much less competitive than the two year programs, so lakehead might be exactly what you need. And form that one year, you can still be registered as a social worker and find work.
  10. Haha never once in my attempts to email them have they replied.
  11. Does anyone know how York does their admissions? I'm beginning to think they don't do the traditional acceptance and waitlist but just keep accepting after people decline initially? I might call them today, but if anyone has already and can shed some light that would be great
  12. Honestly I'm not too sure if it's a huge thing for them, I think they're more focused on the practical experience and references. My undergrad was a major in English with two minors in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology, and then I had a post-grad college certificate in charity management. I got wait listed at Laurier which means i at least met their requirements, and I believe my research methods grade during my undergrad was very mediocre, if I remember correctly it was a 74%. My other grades were pretty decent, CGPA 3.35 for my undergrad (better in my last two years) and 3.7 for my post-grad certificate, but I would think this shows they don't place particular focus on research methods.
  13. Yeah, there's nothing there yet. I'll just have to come up with some more patience:) lol
  14. Oh no I'm sorry! Fingers crossed for Windsor! Sending luck your way ! Did york just email you today?
  15. Surely, it's not unreasonable to expect York to have decisions made by tonight, right? Is anyone else super frustrated with them??? Haha. I JUST CANT DO THIS ANYMORE :-p. Waitlisted for Laurier, and no official news from Lakehead, although when I emailed about admission decisions the other day the person who replied said 'she can't give me news but my future with lakehead looks positive." ???? I don't trust anything until I have that letter lol. People on Lauriers waitlist, let's keep each other updated? I'll let all of you know as soon as / if I hear from them about a place. As for right now, it would just be nice to know that I for sure have gotten in somewhere
  16. Yeah I hear you there Im sorry:( THe wait is killing me as well. Did you apply to both campuses for Lakehead?
  17. Shit! Did they email this out? Did you reply to Orillia campus or Thunderbay? I'm sorry to hear this. I am also still waiting on York as well as Lakehead.
  18. no:( Still says no decision made.... *sigh*...
  19. Has anyone heard from York? Mine still says No Decision made and I'm kind of losing it with them :-P.
  20. Hi LP3, I was invited to the waitlist for Laurier yesterday and they sent an email. If i go into Loris, it still shows my regular reference page. Hope this helps, Sarah
  21. mY MISTAKE! I read laurier. Haven't heard from Lakehead, was waitlisted for Laurier though.
  22. Yeah I just got an email inviting me to the waitlist I guess there's still some hope at least!
  23. in the same boat! I think they still haven't decided on us haha... which is good news? I guess?
  24. still heard nothing from York or Laurier-- i guess no news is good news at this point!
