  1. So this is strange, I go to my portal and on the left there is a new window "Gérer mon financement." Once I click on it, at the bottom there is the decision and once clicked on it, it takes me to another section in which it says "Retenu pour financement." There is no letter attached however. Does this mean I have got funded...? Because I can not even breathe right now and can not really ration anything that I see or read... I hope everyone is staying positive.
  2. I stay up for bit longer- can't even sleep hahaha
  3. Has your FRQNet changed at all?
  4. Nope...This is torture :))))
  5. Thank you so much! I wish you the same! In a more egalitarian society we all would have been able to get proper funding :))
  6. yea, waiting for 2021 to pop up there. However, if my name is not on it, then it is clear it has been rejected..
  7. Good luck on your SSHRC as well! I wish I was eligible for it:D what does that mean if your name is not on the list ?:P Do you mean this link to the repertoire? https://repertoire.frq.gouv.qc.ca
  8. Hi everyone, I have baked two cakes already today and counting until the results are out! I have a question: If one doesn't see the change on their portal after midnight, does it mean that it has not been accepted? Can someone verify this?
  9. slightly over 24 hours..Best of luck to everyone! Remember, at the end of the day these awards are quite arbitrary– selection processes are almost impossible to be objectively characterized and its all about the committee as well as the pool of applicants each year. I guess we are all in certain fields in which we will continue to apply for grants in our careers, some of which will go through and some of which will not! If we get it, great. If not, we will only write better grants next year. Now I need my bottle of wine!
  10. indeed, quarantine and waiting do not go well together!
  11. I can only make assumptions in visual and media studies, because that is my field and am in touch with other friends who are in film studies. Comparative projects between France and Quebec and 'Francophonie' cultural studies across different discourses seem to have some more leverage. But again these are minor asssumptions and one can never say anything for certain.
  12. I see, that makes sense regarding the national vs provincial. Some folks at Concordia had given me the impression that FRQ is picky about what projects they fund especially in arts and culture section and they have certain priorities in terms of areas and topics. It has been hard to distract myself quite frankly. I take it day by day, partly working on my doctoral project, partly working on some proposals for some open calls, and mainly doing a lot of baking: chocolate soothes the pain :))
  13. Hey all! With only 3 days to go, I have found myself actually to have a different (relaxed) attitude toward the whole waiting game compared to couple of weeks ago. It is similar to the calm before the storm; aka, the possible breakdown! :)) I wanted to ask you for some tips on how to deal with the anxiety of waiting out and the possible depression that may soon follow in case of rejection! This is my first year of applying to FRQSC–although I read many awarded grants as sample– and I have heard that it is a difficult grant to get, compared to SSHRC. Is that correct? I am international student and will not even be able to apply to SSHRC, but just curious to know. I am also curious to know how do they distribute the funds to each group considering that each applicant's committee is based at their university.
  14. Oh well. It seems that each funding agency in Canada has a particular way of distribution, which compared to the US for instance, in many ways functions very well. However, in other ways it lets down the applicants. I hope everyone is managing to keep a healthy level of sanity and serenity these days!
  15. That does not make sense ?. What happens to the funds that do not get distributed. ?
  16. Is there a waitlist for FRQSC? Especially since its announcement is often after other scholarships such as PBEEE, Vanier, SSHRC, etc. Just wondering what happens when someone in your group who has been awarded does not accept the award.
  17. I see, thanks so much for checking!
  18. So if one does not get the award, they will only receive the letter with their score and ranking in the email and not through the portal? I was also wondering if the status will change from being "admissible" to not eligible or it will remain the same.
  19. Thanks for the information!
  20. 8 more days and then it is either celebration with mimosas or drinking the whole bottle to start over again ?
  21. That is good to know. I had speculated that perhaps the meetings have happened before the crisis unfolded. I am also an international doctoral student, with 3 exhibitions postponed and cancelled artist's fees, thus an unprecedented financial strain for my studies. Praying for this.
  22. I also hope the Covid-19 crisis would not hinder the selection time line..It is hard to imagine waiting any longer...Who else has selected Visual Arts as their selection committee? I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
  23. Hi dear all, I have been waiting to hear about Phd program at University of Rochester, visuala and cultural studies PhD program, has anyone heard anything from them?
