That is really cool! I have heard that Western is more paediatric but I guess only being in your first year, you still have so much more to learn. How do you like London? Where did you end up finding accommodations? -

Fabulous! Thank you so much! I have found a couple houses, like you mentioned, and that seems to be the best prospect. I will keep looking in the areas that you mentioned -

U of A told me that they are accepting 56 people this year so if they have sent out that many acceptance emails than I think they are done with acceptances. That is until people decline and then the wait list will start opening up -

Hey everybody! I am wondering if anybody here is currently in Western SLP or went there and what they thought of it? I have been accepted to Alberta and am trying to weigh my options just in case I get into Western. -
Hey everybody! Has anybody lived in Platt's Lane Estates or heard anything about it?

Thank you so much for this! I know Western SLP runs until August. Do you think there are additional costs for that or it is bundled into Winter term? -

Does anybody know how much tuition is for SLP at Western? I have heard some things but overall can't find a straight answer on Western's tuition website. -

Just emailed Vicki! Also, a student who is in the program right now doesn't think we need to put down a deposit, she didn't when she accepted -

Looking back on the last few years of Alberta results, I think there is a high chance more acceptances will be sent out next week -

I posted earlier about my acceptance to Alberta but here is my info for all the future speechies out there: Canadian applicant first attempt. Major= Children's Literature (4 year English BA) and Ling and Psych minors. cGPA 3.6/4 and SubGPA (ORPAS) 3.91/4. GRE: V149, Q152 AW5 (can you say inconsistent lol?) Two summer paid internships with an SLP (rehab centre paediatrics), one paid research assistantship with an SLP (rehab centre paediatrics), 3 years volunteering experience with two SLPs (rehab centre and school), and two days of shadowing in hospital (paediatrics) and adult SLP settings (aphasia), TA experience and undergrad research (children's lit). 8 undergrad scholarship awards and tons of field related workshop credentials. Very strong clinical and academic references: the SLP I have worked with for the last few years, the prof I T'A d for, and a linguistics prof. I hope these details help someone out one day! I feel like my acceptance goes to show that like the schools say, you actually don't need a Ling or Psych major. or an honours. I think a children's lit major was unique and the right school would appreciate that because it is great knowledge to have as SLP crosses over with literacy so much and we use books in therapy all the time! Also, you don't not need fantastic GRE scores...thank god. That was a nightmare. Happy Saturday! -

Looking back at the results page for U Alberta, I have a feeling they might be sending out acceptances next week They haven't gone later than the 3rd week of March for years so fingers crossed! This waiting is killing me. -

Congrats on your acceptance! It is so nice to see some first time applicants getting accepted as this is also my first time My GRE is also a weak link in my application (at least the VR and QR parts) and although I didn't apply to Dal, I did apply to Alberta and they look at your GRE scores. So it is great to see that Dal valued the more relevant parts of your application over the GRE, which I think tells a committee nothing about your potential as an SLP (rant!). Haha. -

Ya you are right. I asked McGill and they did say that they look at whole GPA. I am also thinking that was my major weak link in my application I was hoping they could see past a few bad classes when I was 18 but I guess when you have a ton of amazing applicants who have been killing it from day 1, no bad grade goes unnoticed. Hang in there!! That's really cool about Western though, where did you hear that? -

This is also my first time applying and you are right, it is hard to stay confident at times like these! I am not sure where you applied but as far as I know, only McGill and Dal have sent out their acceptances. UBC, Alberta, Western, and Toronto are still to come so don't lose hope! -

I feel your pain! This is going to be a hard couple of weeks for those of us who haven't gotten an acceptance yet. Looking back on previous years in the results section, all acceptances to Western were posted April 1st or later. So I am assuming they are pretty dead set on April 1st -

I talked to U Alberta Friday eve and they said they will likely not be making calls/sending emails until closer to April/beginning of April At least we won't be waiting for a call all next week! -
