Also some schools don't have them. It varies greatly. You shouldn't have to pay a deposit before the April 15th deadline to accept.

Subsidized loans the government pays the interest until the end of your deferment period (usually 6 months after you graduate). Un-subsidized loans the interest begins accruing immediately after you borrow it and continues to accrue (daily actually) while you're in school and until paid off. So with un-subsidized you borrow 20K the first year, 20K the second, and by the time your finish school you owe 43K with $3000 in interest added in (these numbers are made up, but you can look up a loan calculator to get real numbers).

@zephiwho I am very interested in talking to you a bit more. My email address is kristen.l.ackley@gmail.com and that's probably the easiest way to contact me!

Hi all! Am posting again to see if there is any more interest now that April 15th is approaching. My husband and I are looking to share an apt or house with a roommate (or a few roommates) to save on rent. We'd like to find a place with our own bathroom. We are down to earth and easy to get along with. I'd love to hear from others interested!

@Cat_Robutt thanks! I've been wondering what area of State College to check out. Bellefonte and Boalsburg both seem like good options as well.

I'm in your age range, and I just found a place. I used Craigslist, and responded to everything that seemed relevant to my situation (not married, but two cats!). Individual management websites were fine, but tedious after a while. Highly recommend the craigslist route, even though it's a lot to keep track of. The roommates/shares section is updated constantly.
Thanks for the advice. I've been looking there as well. I'll keep looking!

Hi all. I was admitted to PSU and am 90% sure I'm going to commit. I have been looking at housing options and am feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all! I'm definitely going to be looking for a roommate based on prices. A few things about my situation make it unique:
1. I am married, so my husband would be living with us as well. We're both really laid back.
2. We are a bit older than the traditional graduate student. I'm 28 and he's 31.
3. We have a car, so we'd be willing to live outside of State College if that made things more affordable. I'd like to stay on the bus line, though. -

Hello, I have committed to Penn State, and I am definitely looking for a roommate for a house, preferably, or an apartment. I am a relaxed guy outside of grad school and work, and I like to play guitar, snowboard =( , and do other outdoor activities. I have always lived with roommates (several,, actually) and I have gotten along with every single one, even the weird ones that stay in their room all day. My stipend is very generous, so finances won't be a problem. Also, I will be moving with my couches, my big TV, which I'll probably put in a living room, and a lot of kitchen gear. I plan on getting a dog ASAP when I move there, which is unknown at this point (July or August). My girlfriend will be coming to live with me later in the academic year. Finally, I have a car, so I am willing to live a bit outside of town (already have areas in mind).
I would love to get in touch with like-minded people in a similar situation.
Hi! My husband and I will be moving to State College in the fall. We are looking for a roommate (or two) as well. We'd like a 2 bed 2 bath but are flexible. House or apt doesn't matter. We're laid back and like to hike, play video games, and cook. We'd love to talk more about housing/ roommate options.

I was accepted to both Masters programs for Speech Pathology. I am primarily interested in research and hope to earn a PhD eventually. I am trying to figure out which is a better fit. I am also a non-traditional, older student (28 years old and married). I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions as to how to make this decision!
