I believe a little more respect would be nicer. We are all trying to express ideas here. I am not sure how appropriate it is for "supposed adults" to "tell someone to shut up".

I have not heard anyone being interviewed by the engineering department. Basically, they give their admissions outright.

In my opinion, MIT has lost a serious amount of respectability and prestige. I guess they receive a similar number of applications as Stanford and Berkeley. However, both of these schools have revealed the acceptances on the anticipated days... Who the hell do they think they are! Making people wait wait and wait!

And what about the entry with "Accepted via Postal Service"? Please check the previous years. I looked through the previous 3 years and there is no such a thing as accepting someone via PS. If you look carefully, you will see that only the people who were waitlisted received something from MIT (either waitlist notification or acceptance from waitlist) via PS. This brings me to the following conclusion: this "one" person (yeah, all these entries are submitted by one person I believe) is stupid.

if you look at the stats of one of these acceptances added today, you will see that GPA = 3.25. I have never seen / heard / imagined someone being accepted by MIT EECS with this GPA. And I think I will sever see / hear / imagine. Think about it. If you were accepted with such a GPA, would you not add some comments at least? Maybe something like "ohh, my GPA is low, but I have 2 pubs, 3 REUs, blah blah blah". Do NOT be so naive. There is always one person somewhere who enjoys making people feel miserable and hopeless. Do NOT believe in everything you see.

Hi everyone, Is there anyone who has received any communication from Stanford EE? This can either be in the form of an unofficial notification from POI or an official email from the department/graduate school. I guess the so called "formal" decisions are about to arrive in a few days according to the last year's results. So, please share your results/communications/thoughts...

same here. called the admissions office today. they said the website will be updated by/on 15 Feb. No info about the app status though.

that means admission. you should receive an informative email from the department in the near future.

That should be official. The websites get updated by the graduate school after the approval of the Dean, etc.

I hope so. Waiting till now has been hard enough. However, there have not been any MIT results on the results page for a while now. I hope the notifications would arrive late today/at the weekend.

In any case, an admissions office sending out emails under snowstorm does not seem realistic to me; especially when the university is closed at that day. The admission decisions from yesterday are most probably legit though.

Please note that MIT is closed today due to snowstorm. Therefore, I think that all the MIT results posted today can be spam. The information about snowstorm is given at the MIT main page.

I saw several MIT EECS acceptance notifications today in the results page. I believe there is a possibility that these posts are spam/misleading/lie. Can anyone confirm the receipt of an email notification from MIT EECS?
