  1. I am married, but my husband is active duty military. He is going to the United Arab Emirates, and I am moving to Boston (BU) for my clinical psychology PhD. I will be living in Brighton, and I found an apartment entirely by phone, Skype, and Facetime, which was terrifying. The question of income is also terrifying, and I am thankfully supplementing with my GI bill. Do you guys have an apartment yet? If so, what area did you decide to live in?
  2. This might seem like a nitpicky question to ask, but the POI for my lab called to offer me a fully funded position as a grad student in the clinical psychology PhD program. He left his cell phone number in case I had questions, and he said I could let him know via email or phone of my decision. Is there a preference? Should I call to let him know that I am accepting the offer? I know that this information is important for professors in notifying other students, and at the same time, I know that we are in different time zones, so I don't want to interrupt personal time to notify my professor of my decision. Any thoughts?
  3. Thanks for all the advice! I am from Florida, but I am also former military. I lived in Korea for two years, so I thankfully have plenty of winter clothes. I also have an okay stipend and the GI bill on top of that to get me through the first two years. After that, things will get tough. I am definitely going to try to save my money and make it last. I believe if I really budget well I can afford about 1700 max for rent. I am definitely going to try to find a one bedroom and make sure that includes heat and water! I am searching by good biking distances to campus, but I can walk just as easily. I prefer that so I get out every day and can try to find my way around. Did you use the Boston University property management suggestions, or did you choose another realty company?
  4. I haven't accepted the offer yet, but I am 90% likely to accept an offer in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at BU. I am from Florida currently, born and raised in Georgia. So, I have a lot of questions. There is a massive thread about Boston that I have been reading, but a lot of the information is about the Cambridge and Harvard areas. I would love to know more about BU graduate student housing, whether it is worth it to live in the campus apartments, good neighborhoods close by, etc.
