Hi I have been put on wait list for PhD applications in CMU Mechanical Engineering. They say they will give a final decision on or before April 30. On the other hand, I have an offer , with TA and RA, from Purdue University. They want a conclusive acceptance/rejection from me before April 15. I would have preferred to go to CMU. In this case: 1. If I accept Purdue Offer, will it impact my chances of getting into CMU? Do these schools have a consortium or something wherein they know that a certain applicant has already accepted something from another university and hence is not applicable for admission here? Please advise.
