  1. I'll be starting the PhD in Political Science. Anyone there?
  2. I'm starting grad school in UPitt this fall. I am scanning some apartments online, as an international student. My two 'recommended' areas are Shadyside and Squirrel Hill. I don't mind commuting as long as the bus stop is near my house... And I would definitely want to live in a lively part of town, although safety is very important to me. I won't have a car and I might have to walk home some nights. Which area would you recommend? And do you think I would be able to rent a place if I come early in May and meet with the companies, etc. , so that I will come just before the school starts in August? Thanks a lot!!
  3. Hello everyone, I am applying to the Political Science /International Relations PhD programs for entry in Fall 2009. I applied last year as well, but did not get the results I wanted. I was accepted, but without scholarship. Probably I aimed too high and applied to the very top universities. I have an undergrad GPA of 3.76 (International Relations). I did an MA in European Studies in Amsterdam and graduated with honors. My GRE scores are: Verbal: 570 Quantitative: 760 Writing: 5.0 (could do better especially here!) I got 119 out of 120 from TOEFL, but I don't know if that matters at all! I have more almost 3 years of work experience, including traineeships in international institutions in Europe and the US. I work for a big NGO now. What could you say about my chances of getting in this year, given the current conditions? I just wanted to get your opinion. Thanks a lot in advance and good luck to all...
  4. I talked to them on Friday and they said that April 15 is the deadline for people with funding to accept the offer. April 16 would be the last day to expect a positive answer, imagining that some people would reject the offer. However the lady did not sound very encouraging. I also felt like they notified the few people they are funding. However, some might turn down the offer at the last minute..That is my hope..Considering that it is the only school that accepted me!
  5. Hi, Did anyone recently hear about funding? When I called them they said that they will know around the end of the month, which was March. And I also learned that if I don't hear anything by April 15, it means I did not get any. I am really curious...
  6. Hi, I am recently admitted to the PhD in Political Science at Boston University. I would appreciate any information/evaluations of the program in terms of the research opportunities, placement record, student/faculty interaction etc... No word on funding yet, and I read that they don't have so much funding this year. It all depends on the funding, but still I would like to hear from those who know the school/program well. Thanks...
