  1. Hey, So, I am starting my senior year at a flagship university as an econ major. I talked to the department head of agricultural economics at the university and i told him my interests, GPA, experience, and GRE scores, and he told me that he would waive my tuition in addition to a $1,600 a month stipend if I went to the program. It is a good program. I think it is ranked in the top 10% in the country. Now, my GRE score (Q: 155; V: 149) isn't stellar, so I am having a hard time believing him. Do you think that he is B.S.ing me or telling the truth?
  2. Hey, I am an undergraduate economics major getting set to graduate in the May of 2017. I am trying to decide if there is any remote chance that I would get into a Ph.D. program. I am taking the GRE on Monday, and feel confident that I will do that it least decent on it. I plan on applying to two Ph.D. programs at Texas A&M University: the agricultural economics and the economics program. I guess the first thing I need to figure out is what my chances would be on getting in. Before I graduate, I will have completed my bachelors micro theory, macro theory, economic data analysis, econometrics, economic forecasting, mathematical economics, public finance, money & banking, research credit, finite math, business calc, and classes of that nature. I also have extensive coursework in political science and accounting, if that is at all relevant. My cumulative GPA is around a 3.56, major GPA at my current institution is a 3.50, but only a 3.25 GPA for all the classes taken at A&M. I started at a community college because I couldn't initially afford college and didn't have good high school credentials (if relevant). Do you guys think that I may have a shot for one of the two Ph.D. programs?
