  1. Hello, Dear! I am a Korean M.A. graduate, and planning to apply to several U.S. universities. So, I e-mailed faculty members, and got their response. However, one of them just replied that "We would welcome your application." Although looking kind, it seems to show that he has no interest in my application. I was told that in this bad economic situation, chemistry between me and faculty members is the much more important than ever. Moreover, up to my experience, favorable responses from the potential adviser by and large lead to good consquences, though it doest not always gurantee success in applications. In this regard, I got a bad start. Should I apply to this program? Please give me any advice!!
  2. Hello, guys! I am a Korean student, studying the Yuan period and plan to apply to the PhD program. As "the application season" is just around corner, I recently kept googling to find out suitable graduate program for me. The result is really devastating because it is so hard to find good fit. I was told that medieval Chinese history has been a poorly studied field in the U.S. Could you give me any advice about the graduate programs which offer the course on the medieval Chinese history? And one of my American friend told me that economic situtaion in the U.S. is much worse than last year, so I am afraid that I can get a disadvantage in the application process just because I am an international student. Are there anyone who have information on that issue?
  3. Yesterday, I was informed by e-mail from Michigan that I was placed on the waitlist and they would keep me update as soon as possible, although everything would be figured out by April, 15. I really wonder if I have any chances to get admissions from Michigan. For me, "waitlist" means nothing, and given the current economic situation, it is less likely that I would be admitted. What do you think about it?
