Interesting - did not know that - though i'm not sure that applies to cancer, but still disconcerting to hear.
just yesterday - got a text, then an e-mail
yesterday, around 5pm CST?
A little relieved to hear no one's heard from U Chicago yet. From their apps though, sounded like a very who-do-you-know kind of program
heard from emory as well, for the cancer bio - so for me that makes -
washu mcb - invited
u Wisconsin-Madison - invited
emory - invited
northwestern cancer - assuming rejected
upenn cancer - assuming rejected
UChicago cancer - no word
still holding hope for the Chicago schools, still haven't heard anything from anyone about them. surprised more people didn't apply to Wisconsin Madison - I thought it was one of the top programs, is it not?
likewise applied to UPenn's Cancer Bio program - I haven't heard anything yet - should I wait until tomorrow and call and see if they've sent out all the invites? Any harm in doing so either way?
One frustrating aspect of this is, if you don't get an interview, obviously you won't be accepted. But they (any of the schools) don't tell you then and there that you won't be accepted, and just wait until they're practically done with admissions before letting you know.
any word yet from anyone for u Chicago or emory for the cancer bio programs? still only heard from waahu and Wisconsin Madison, applied to u Penn and northwestern as well but sounds like i wasn't selected
(1) PI, (2) the professor I TA for currently, and (3) probably my faculty mentor. I am applying to UIC Rush as a "back up" but I'm not sure if I'd rather do a "lower-tier" PhD or a higher-tier masters and then reapply for a higher end PhD. I'll make the push if I have a shot, just want to know if I do. I see a lot of people here that have amazing research experience, but I just didn't connect with as productive of a PI as I'd hoped. I think at this point I really need to start researching professors and perhaps reaching out to some of them?
