  1. I've been calling RISD all week, and I just finally got through to the Admissions office. Basically, I was told that "they were trying to get around to sending out the rest of their Grad letters in the next couple of days." So good luck to those of you that are still holding your breath!
  2. Whoops. I shouldn't post without getting a full night's sleep. The title should be less "Desing" and more "Design."
  3. Hey Pointedears, Sorry to hear that about RISD. I'm pretty sure that I'm in the same boat, but I just can't seem to quash that tiny little spark of optimism that lights up every time I think about getting into their program. Ah well, I suppose that's what rejection letters are for. Or, in other words, I guess that I'll believe it when I finally see it. Maybe the post lady will bring good news tomorrow morning...
  4. Hi everyone! I know that I'm joining the conversation a little late, but I wanted to let you all know how happy I am to have found this forum - and how great it is to find other people that are dealing with all of the same issues that I'm dealing with while playing the Grad School Application game. So far, I've received one rejection (SMFA), one wait-list that turned into an acceptance with funding (Boston University's CFA), and have yet to hear from either RISD or Mass Art. FYI, I'm applying to the Graphic Design MFA program. In other news, I'm looking to find a little more information on BU's Graphic Design Dept. Specifically, I'm wondering about their reputation - but really, any information that you all may have would be appreciated. Good luck, and I look forward to hearing back from you all
  5. So, I just got accepted to Boston University's CFA Graphic Design MFA Program, and I have two questions for anyone that feels like answering: 1.) Does anyone have a bead on this department's reputation? I have a decent feeling about the program, but would like to hear back from people who might have more information than I do. 2.) I applied on extremely short notice. The original plan was for me to work another year and then apply in 2009. Long story short, I was able to apply this year, but with only about a week to put my portfolio/ resume/ applications together. I feel like I could get into a really stellar program if I took another year to prepare and re-apply. But here's the catch. BU is offering me a decent amount of money, and it's one of the most affordable programs that I'm considering. SO, the question is, if you were in my shoes, would you: a.) Take the BU offer because it's a good department and it fits into your budget. or b.) Wait a year and re-apply to schools that have GREAT reputations (RISD, Pratt, etc.) while putting yourself far deeper into debt? Also FYI, I intend to go into Graphic Design for a couple of years after graduation, but eventually would like to teach at a collegiate level.
