  1. I've recently been accepted into an MSW program for September- I'd already accepted for U of T, but between COVID and the tuition differences, it looks like the second MSW program is a better option. Is it..possible to tell U of T that I'm switching programs at this late stage? I still haven't paid my deposit.
  2. Is anyone else wondering how COVID-19 will be affecting the programs? It's likely going to last for another year to 18 months- I've debated going with Waterloo (already distance ed), because it might be better than a hastily-put-together distance ed program at another school.
  3. Has anyone heard much about the UBCO MSW program- if it's good, bad, good practicum opportunities? I heard bad things about the UBC Vancouver one but nothing about the Okanagan, except for its clinical focus...
  4. Hi, I also got that message from UVic yesterday. The best I can figure (in my case) is that it's because I don't have 2 years of post BSW experience- just graduated. (I had several years of pre-BSW experience on crisis lines, community support work, etc)
  5. Does anyone here know people who've done the U of T health stream? Any feedback, good or bad, on the program?
  6. I got the invite for u toronto mental health on acorn
  7. Just got accepted into UBCO advanced standing! Anyone else?
  8. I'm applying to UofT 1 year MSW. Anyone else?
  9. Oh God I just turned in my essays. Do you know when we hear back?
  10. Hey, I'm planning to apply to the Advanced MSW at UVic, UBC, UBCO, UT Toronto, Laurier, and Renison. GPA is low 80's ish. If they count teaching ESL as SW experience, then I have 7 years of experience, if not, I have about 2-3 years experience between working at a day program, teaching youth with special needs, and volunteering on a crisis line. Some questions: does anyone know if applying to UT is less competitive if you apply for certain specializations? (I'd guess less people apply for Social Justice or Geriatrics than Mental Health?) Has anyone heard anything about the quality of the UBC MSW?
  11. Hello everyone, I was wondering about MSW programs in western Canada- U Victoria, UBC, UBC Okanagan, and U Calgary. 1.Does anyone here have experience with these programs, can recommend (or warn me to avoid) any of these universities? 2. Which program would be best for policy, and which would be best for clinical work?
