  1. Wait lists also could depend on your particular field of study, too. For example, I'm wait listed at Texas Tech, and when I emailed them, they said I am the next person in line for the British Literature pre-1700 field. Whether or not I'm accepted will partly (or completely) depend on whether the person in that subfield declines their offer. The DGS also said that in normal years, they admit 50% more students than they have funding for (they fund everyone) expecting some to not accept, but because of the tough economy, they can only admit the number they can fund this year (which is 5). They put 5 people on their wait list (4 others and me), but I'm not sure if those 5 people represent different subfields or not. He didn't say. This waiting sucks.
  2. Does Arizona State notify the people on the wait list? I saw some people on the results page post they were on the wait list, but didn't know if they emailed to ask or saw it on their application status. Mine still says "In Review".
  3. They do? I didn't know that. No, I applied to their literature program. And I did check the results. I saw someone was accepted, but I wasn't sure if that someone read the forums. They only accepted five people this year with five people (me included) on their wait list. It's a long shot, but I thought I'd see if any of those other nine people are on here.
  4. I've been wait listed to Texas Tech, and I was just curious if anyone is planning to turn them down? I know this is potentially a rude/premature question, but I'm really just curious if any of the people accepted read the forum here.
  5. HAHA! That's pretty much what my interests do, too!
  6. I'm anxious to hear news, but not particularly surprised we haven't heard anything yet. I'm actually still waiting on 5 schools. I know for sure Arizona State and Purdue were waiting until at least March 7th at the earliest, so I'm assuming other schools are the same. My guess is we'll hear this week or next. My subfield is Medieval Literature (concentration in Middle English, specifically Langland, if I had to choose), but I'm also interested in the Medievalism of the Victorian period (and Victorian Children's Literature).
  7. I called them a few weeks ago checking whether they got all three of my recommendation letters (had some problems with Oregon) and the secretary told me they'd be informing applicants after March 7th. So hopefully we'll hear this week!
