MIT can be real. Yale seems fake.
Could be.
But the trolls have been obsessed with MIT the whole cycle for whatever reason.

Has MIT been confirmed on here yet?

It's just a feeling that I have that different faculty members may send admissions at different time as it wasn't the DGS sending admission emails so far. I may very well be wrong of course.
They do it like that every year.

I don't think Stanford is done though. I feel like there would be at least 5-6 more posts on the board.
Why? It's a small cohort/program. Last year only one gradcafe poster got in.
They have also never done waves from what I see.
It's probably done and rejection letters should be coming out soon.

Hey Comparativist, Why are you so sure that Northwestern is definitely done? I am still waiting an answer from them.
A couple of people here have commented that they already had their admitted student visit (or is very soon, can't remember exactly when it is/was). I doubt they would do that without sending out all their acceptances.

I'm still waiting to hear from University of Washington, Northwestern, UPenn, and Stanford. Anyone know anything?
Northwestern is definitely done. Stanford is probably done.

How big is the gap in rankings? What range are we talking about here?

In the last few years, Stanford has been more towards the later weeks of February. Last year, they were around the 15th, but that was by far the earliest they send out acceptances. Usually, they are more around the 20th.
I think you might be a bit confused.
Last year their results were on the 10th, the year before that the 28th of January. The year before that, Feb 20th.
So yeah, all over the place.

Based on past results, can we safely assume that Stanford results won't come out until Wednesday or Thursday?
No. Stanford is all over the place.

Why can't the PSU DGS be less nice. This only makes the decision harder.
Honestly Monody, there is very little that should persuade you to choose PSU over Columbia. Columbia beats it by virtually every metric imaginable.

You should apply where your research interests fit...you have provided nothing to give us any indication of what they are.

Safe to assume rejection for Duke and Columbia if you haven't heard anything.
Yup.

Any idea whether Duke is over?
It's done.

How likely do you all think it is that Duke would send admissions notifications past open hours (5 PM EST)?
No one can answer this...but we haven't seen any top programs do this so far IIRC (or at least..past 6ish).

I've seen it before too. Seems like this is an elaborate troll that implanted themselves in the results page overtime....
Or just copy pasted...not that difficult to do.
That being said...it's quite the 'trollish' description...two first author pubs? Highly unlikely.

Not that I am expecting a Duke admit at this point...but god damn what a fit that program is for me.

Maybe its the only school they can spell? My favorite was that sb posted yesterday that they got called by MIT. *facepalm*
MIT calls their acceptances before sending an email.

how do you know UNC is done? I assumed they were based on the number of acceptances on the results page, but I have no actual intel.
I don't for sure. But given the amount of acceptances and then two days of silence... I would wager that one is over. Maybe a couple of trickles given their history but as far as 'decisions to expect' it's done.

Let's get a list of predictions going? Possible schools sending out decisions next week:
- Columbia
- Duke
- MIT
- Notre Dame
- Penn State
- Stanford
- UMN
- UNC
Any disagreements? Who else are we waiting for?
UNC is done.
I doubt we see that many schools, but next week is historically the biggest week. Probably see a few of those the week after (Columbia and Stanford for example).

Does anyone know if schools send out decisions over the weekend? Wondering if I should be on alert this weekend
Doubtful.
Welcome to the 2016-17 cycle!

Well...two more programs left pending for me (my two top choices, but whatever).
