  1. I'm so sorry, I completely missed this post! I got an admit to the SIS PhD. Received an email from the program director on 9 Feb.
  2. The Irvine acceptance is mine. Sorry, I forgot to claim it on the forum. I checked on the portal and found an admission offer letter and a financial aid letter (with funding for 6 years). I received an official email with the same stuff about six hours after checking the portal. This morning I also received two more emails: one from the Graduate Division informing me of how to go about accepting/declining their offer, and another one about the Statement of Legal Residence. I had a Skype chat with a POI which was very positive about 10 days back. I received an email from the DGA soon after, shortly before receiving the official invite for Visiting Day. Since I am an international student staying in my home country, I will not be able to attend. So the DGA, in her email, was very positive and suggested I list the profs I wanted to speak with so that that day could be recreated virtually.
  3. I had applied to Irvine as well. I received the same email as you, I think, and also had a productive Skype conversation about my interests, the professors I want to work with, and the program. It was centered around visiting day on March 3.
  4. Thanks, I shall try that. Anything to occupy your mind! Also, apologies for plagiarizing your signature style without acknowledgement; I really liked it! To make amends, I should and shall insert the requisite citation.
  5. I am beginning to think much the same. I had applied to 8 schools (IR subfield); I have a received a rejection from UCSD, and have reason only to be skeptical and worried about Berkeley. Of the 6 remaining, at this point, I am hopeful of hearing good news from only 2 non-top-tier schools. It is downright exhausting to wait through the cycle without an acceptance in hand. Doom prophesies of receiving all rejects form rapidly and get cemented in the mind, hindering the ability to do any productive work whatsoever. The words of encouragement on this thread are, however, a big help at times like these!
  6. Try going to the 'messaging' tab, and you'll see a letter over there.
