  1. Grr. I'm also applying to Cornell. Thanks for the heads up! One of my LOR writers mentioned he hadn't gotten the rec email, now I realize why. Guess I'll call tomorrow, since I doubt I'll be submitting the application very far in advance.
  2. structuralbio, don't compare based on people on these threads. We're a self-selecting group, and not representative of the general applicant pool. There are plenty of applicants with GPAs lower than yours who have been successful. I have a 3.0 and mediocre GREs, with 5 years experience and a publication. I applied very narrowly this year with plans to apply more broadly next year once I have another publication and re-take the GREs. I applied to 3 top programs (which rejected me pre-interview), but I got two interviews at good (just not top/super competitive) programs. I'm waitlisted at one and waiting to hear from another, so I'm not a success story yet, but my point is that there are applicants out there with lower stats, and we're not entirely unsuccessful. I don't see any reason to worry about a 3.6, as long as you have experience + LORs.
  3. ion exchanger, I've had a group interview like that. It wasn't bad-- it's a little awkward having to talk to 6 people at one time, but I didn't mind it. The questions were pretty broad, we talked about the program, my research, a lot of "why do you want to go into research" type questions (which tied back into research).
  4. scienceowl-- yep, noticed that too. I'm SO anxious. I don't expect to get in, but I just want to get through tomorrow so at least if I don't hear I can move on!
