A friend of mine was accepted to their American Religions track last week.
Thank you! I will still hope for the best, but expect the worst than since I also applied to Americas track.

Does anyone know what the status is of UT Austin besides AMR? The historical data shows this week being the week they notify, however it is still silent.

I got my first rejection email! Woo-hoo! Finally, something!
I am glad you are taking it with a positive mentality! I am afraid that I won't be so positive.

Notre Dame, Loyola Chicago, Fordham, UT, Emory, Boston University, and Harvard. I applied to a mix of programs since I'm interested in second temple literature, NT, and apostolic writings.
BU School of Theology or Grad School?

I think this depends in large part what type of academic position is being aimed at; TT in RS at State School U or at a Seminary/Divinity School or other "religious" institution? For example, Drew places well in the latter category according to the data from ATS, but I suspect not quite as well in the former category. Not trying to stir up debate, but I do believe the distinction between religious studies and theological/divinity studies is important, and often ignored (or maybe I've just spent too much time reading for my upcoming theory & method comprehensive examination).
FWIW, a faculty member at Temple I spoke with regarding interest in their program said that they have had difficulty placing recent grads in any TT jobs. A brief look at Iowa's website indicates they have also struggled.
When talking with Iowa, they did indicate this as well. However, they did indicate that part of the issue is the ability for candidates to relocate. If you are willing to relocate and take a non TT position for a year or two, you can connect with a TT position.
Overall, TT positions are shrinking as the academic world is in adjustment. Recent graduates at the Seminary that I attended, have taken three to five years on average to get a TT position. The individuals that did not take that long, specialized in a field in which they are the minority.
So overall, it seems that a lot of institutions are placing less and less in a short time span.

This is great! It is all the emotion of this application season wrapped in a nice little dialogue. Thank you for bringing laughter into this.

That makes me so sad. I really thought I had a chance with them, and I REALLY wanted to go there.
.... so, should I wait till late Saturday night and drunk dial the department repeatedly? Leave them a bunch of messages for them to find Monday morning?
If you do, let's make it a joint call because I feel the same way!

As February is upon us and interview season is in full swing, I wanted to ask if anyone has heard anything from Boston University School of Theology yet?

Hi. I have good news to share. I've been accepted to IU's program and plan to attend. I know there were at least 4-5 posts about interviews and wonder if anyone else has received acceptances and planning to attend the recruitment weekend?
And, if this is not a good place to post this as people are waiting for results, and probably anxious/uncertain/stressed, understandably, I'm sorry, I'll post somewhere else!
It took me 6 application cycles. I had acceptances during the 3rd (Drew and Garrett) and couldn't do it then, and then tried two more times in a different department, and somehow everything landed right this year. But, it's not an easy process, and I definitely feel that. Sending good vibes and thoughts to all of you who are waiting.
Congratulations! That is great that everything is working out for you!

Yes the housing application did open up for me but I didn't want to get my hopes up about that...
Same here. I don't think that matters at all. I believe it opened up for all applicants.

Does anyone know about the UT Austin interviews? I also applied there under the Religion in the Americas track and am wondering if I'm out of the running since I didn't get one.
I also applied Religion In Americas at UT. I didn't get asked for an interview. I wonder if it was one POI refining their two top candidates.
Also, did your housing application open up? The results feed was crazy about it all weekend, but no one from RS posted. Just wondering.
