  1. Hello everyone, I have been fortunate enough to have been admitted into Stanford's MS in Statistics (Data Science) program as well as Cornell's PhD in ECE program. My interests in undergrad have been very broad and diverse hence the completely different programs. To be honest, I am not entirely sure what I exactly plan to do after graduate school whether it is gaining employment in industry, working as a research scientist or moving towards academia. I am leaning towards Stanford (admittedly due to the name but also because of my interest in data science) however I would have no financial aid given to me and would have to pay for the program completely out of pocket in addition to living expenses. However at Cornell, I would be fully funded with a 30k stipend. Would it be foolish to give up a PhD admission for a Master's program? Is it an economical decision to choose Stanford over Cornell? I fear I've been placing too much weight on the rankings and not thinking too much about my future career since I am unsure what exactly I plan to do after graduate school. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any advice would be appreciated.
