Thanks, Seung, that's what I thought. I haven't heard anything from them though, so I guess they send out rejections later?

The department's recommendations were sent to GSAS last Wednesday (or was it Tuesday . . . can't be sure now). I can confirm that at least one person has been notified of his/her acceptance today by a call. I assume this means acceptances are ready to go out, but there's no rule that subfields have to sync their notification efforts.

Does anybody know if all of the U Chicago acceptances for NELC have gone out? Wondering if I should just cross it off the list?

Thanks to everybody for posting their info! I've been reading every precious drop. Waiting is hard.
The first response from programs that I've applied to has been from Johns Hopkins (Near Eastern Studies dept), informing me that I am on the short list (no guarantee of acceptance), and that they won't make decisions for a few more weeks (until they know their funding). Its nice to hear something, even if its not an acceptance.
