  1. Sorry for the second post. I know sometimes there are delays due to the graduate school itself, not the department. I worked for the department in the past so definitely DM me (anyone) if you have questions about the school, professors, etc. It's a great school that I love dearly at the very least!
  2. So I think this is late for them now. They tend to be all over the place, but last year they had the RSVPs for the visiting day around now. When I talked to a professor of mine last week (not on adcom) she said they hadn't made decisions yet.
  3. Ditto if you need info about Philly (especially Penn) or DC!
  4. I also got a UMich rejection email. Man today has been harsh.
  5. Yeah thank you person who did this post, you've calmed a ton of people down!!
  6. Same here. I love their campus, but it probably wouldn't have been a good personality fit if I had gotten in.
  7. Agreed, it seems unlikely that someone would get into Yale and not post here if they already post on a regular basis
  8. I wouldn't take it to mean that. The same thing happened to me with NYU and I've been accepted elsewhere. I think it's more of an issue of them not having enough spots / money for funding / it not being the right fit.
  9. Ugh slow internet causing double posting!
  10. Claiming a NYU masters program acceptance, I will be turning it down since I've already been accepted to other PhD programs.
  11. I'd pick Columbia, hands down - but more based on location / proximity to my family. That may not be the best way to decide on programs, but I want to be within a reasonable distance of all the people I care about.
  12. Yeah I'm hoping for closure on Stanford and Rochester. I'd love to hear from Michigan / MIT. Then hopefully Yale / Harvard / Cornell over the next two weeks. Then I'll be done.
  13. I feel like this week has been a lot quieter than expected. Any thoughts about who we may hear from over the next two days?
  14. I know the feeling - I currently work in a corporate setting and they think I'm going to leave and go to school in a few years (and it's going to stay that way until I commit somewhere)....so hard to contain excitement and disappointment at work. Getting time off to visit schools is even worse. Thankfully I can vent here!
  15. Don't be nervous - just view it as an opportunity to talk about the topics you're passionate about and to ask questions. If you're applying for grad school it's because you love your field (hopefully), just let that show along with your ability to go places with it.
  16. Waitlisted at UNC - but got a nice email from a rep in my subfield (although there were quite a few typos in it). Tried to post this yesterday, but I think the forum was down....
  17. I think you have every right to ask this question and it shows you're serious about your goals.
  18. If I ever rule the world I'll declare that all grad schools must release decisions on the same day, so people know when to expect decisions and understand all of their options at one time. Who's with me?
  19. Ohhhh I like this quote - thanks!
  20. Realizing I may have read your question incorrectly @waterloo715. They did not mention anything about the waitlist process at the open house, at least not in any of the groups I was in.
  21. Well they had an open house / interview session on Monday (2/6). They invited 40 of us and were planning on giving offers to about 30 and waitilisting the rest. There were also some people who were waitlisted outright, so I'm not sure how big the waitlist is, but I don't think there is going to be another open house.
  22. Claiming a GW admission
  23. Same for UNC - it's driving me a bit crazy even though I now have an acceptance I would pick over them anyway....I just hate not knowing!
  24. I'm wondering if that's a troll, I don't trust anything unless there is at least 3 postings.
