Congratulations!! I would love to hear what your credentials look like and where did you find out? My application status has not been updated at all and just simply says submitted.

I got an email! I haven't actually checked my SFU account yet. Various research experiences (mostly clinical, some slightly related to public health in the university population), couple jobs, nothing really too public health related. Last two year GPA was probably 3.87. Currently on my year off.

I haven't received anything from McGill as well. I hope there's a second round of offers

When I emailed the office earlier last month they told me we should hear back by mid-March, that makes me assume that there should be more offers later?

    Good luck!

Congrats to everyone on their offer today from McGill!

I applied for McGill's MSc in Epidemiology. When was the application deadline for the MScPH program? Just trying to figure out if early offers are possible for epi as well.

I also got an offer from McGill's MScPH!!!!

Their deadline for apps was Dec 15.

Where did you find this info?

I emailed the program director, if you didn't get an email then you are rejected.

    Dear ,

Thank you for your inquiry about your application status. I regret to inform you that you will not be receiving an offer for admission to the Master of Public Health Program.  We received a record number of 409 applications this year and are only accepting 40 students.  You will receive an offical notice of decision from the graduate office in the coming week or two.

I wish you all the best in your academic and career endeavours.

I was just rejected from U of A MPH Health Promotion (Distance). I'm a bit surprised since I have an 87.5 average in my last two years of undergrad and paid work experience in the health promotion field. However, based on stats on the U of A website, the majority of accepted students are from Alberta and I'm from out of province, so that may have contributed to their decision. Not too disappointed though since it was my last choice and I've already accepted an offer at Queen's!

Yeah, I had a similar GPA but less "health promo" related experiences, but a lot of other ones that had transferrable skills? I am also out of province. I am pretty disappointed about it, oh well! Who knows what they are looking for.

I just re-read the comments and one person got into health promotion/ social and behavioural, and the other didn't specify which. A bit of a bummer for me since I applied to health promo but trying to stay positive until I know for sure either way!

i applied to health promo too, same boat!

I'm part of a Facebook group for SFU masters students and I saw two people on there have been accepted to U of T and are trying to decide between the two. (But I haven't heard anything myself, so I'm feeling less optimistic now hehe)

Do you know which stream specifically? This is sorta discouraging news... :(

The message we received on BearTracks was that due to their back log and high applicant number this year that SUCCESSFUL applicants wouldn't be notified until Mid-April this year (last year I knew people accepted March 31st).

so I think it's still a positive sign we haven't heard anything from UofA yet :)

I think it's also really positive knowing that not one of the other UofA MPH applicant o this forum has been accepted yet (only online rejection updates). So I definitely don't think acceptances still have gone out. Stay hopeful !

wishing everyone the best during these impatient times :)

No news is good news I guess! Haha. But yes, it's hard to be patient when it's April and everyone has heard back.

Anyone know anything specific pro's and con's of the U of A program, specifically global health? I believe the class size is quite small.

Nothing yet still "Under Review" however i do know of a few people who have been rejected already

I applied for MPH Global Health at U of A and my application still says under review. I think some other people have gotten rejected. I don't know if that's a good sign or not......

Also waiting *patiently* for U of T .... lol

Same here! ... also just as an update I received a message from U of A today saying the following:

"Your application to the Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree in the School of Public Health for Fall 2017 has been received and is being processed. Due to a higher than expected number of applications, our review process will be slower than in previous years. Please be assured your file will be reviewed in detail, and all qualified applicants will be considered for potential recruitment scholarship. We are aiming to advise all successful applicants by mid-April"

i got this message today too, my application says under review. Has people in the global health stream for U of A received acceptances yet?

I'm sure if this means accepted I applied for Global health but I want tot change it.

Ahh, I am extremely nervous now. Because I also applied for global health. If you don't mind me asking, why do you want to switch?

Thanks to mphalberta for sending this portal link. I signed in there and saw it. You can see it there as well, Bear tracks status still shows decision pending. So these are two different bear tracks and portal.

Thanks! Mine still sends under review.. I might be refreshing this page for the next little while.

So it sounds like you got accepted! Which stream did you apply to?

    Hi all,

Thought I'd make an account since I'm anxiously waiting to hear back from MPH programs as well.

I applied to MPH programs at: Western, Guelph, Waterloo, Toronto (behavioural sci & health promo stream), Brock. I haven't heard anything back yet.

Best of luck to everyone! Hoping we all get into our top choices :)

Hey, I am in the same boat! Don't worry. I cynically check everyday...

I applied to Toronto for health promo and U of A for global health. I heard Toronto is really late with their acceptances, probably won't expect to hear anything until mid-April!

    Good luck!

  16. Congrats to everyone that has gotten an acceptance! So unfortunate I didn't apply to the schools that have sent out acceptances already, this waiting game is making me quite anxious!

Hopefully U of A Global Health and U of T (health promo) comes out soon... I doubt it on the U of T front though.
