  1. U Wisconsin Madison has a really strong printmaking program. I visited UW last year and they seemed like they had great faculty, sense of community, and facilities. I definitely recommend you check it out.
  2. For those of you with interviews, how did they let you know? in the letter or did they contact you after?
  3. Heard from mica, rejected from both hoffberger and mt royal. Also heard from Cca: rejected. But I also heard from Pratt: a very short letter saying I'm on the waitlist. Hmmm I wonder if that means anything...after mg experience being on a waitlist last year, I'm trying to tell myself not to anticipate anything. In any case, I'm about to leave for my flight outta Boston to Oakland to check out mills; excited to see what it's like!
  4. i applied for painting and haven't heard anything yet
  5. SAME HERE! I applied for painting, so it might be different, but i haven't heard a peep from Pratt or CCA...have been trying to just assume it's bad news, so that it doesnt drive me nuts.

  8. Dude, where is my junk mailbox? I don;t think i have one. Would i have one if my email is on gmail? Feeling a little techno stupid... Also, does anyone know if pratt interviews ALL their candidates? That was pretty much the only other possibility left for me, but maybe not anymore...For some reason I thought Pratt didnt interview
  9. That really is quite something. Good for you! Has anyone heard of any other programs giving that much? I haven't...
  10. wow congrats that's really cool...don't get to hear much about residencies in these forums...what is the residency?
  11. I just got the Northwestern rejection too. BUT yesterday I got a call from Mills and I'm accepted! Waiting to hear about financial aid...
  12. Received rejection letter from UC Irvine today
  13. Yep. Another rejection from Ucsd right herrrr
  14. That's awesome! So do you mean you got full tuition remission or you got full tuition remission plus 25k stipend? which uc?
  15. HOOK! dude, my lil bro and i were OBSESSED with that movie when it came out! we watched it over and over and over and over....
  16. yeah i havent heard anything from UCSD either. I did notice that a ucsd ip address visited my website for a whole SEVEN seconds, but that was back on the 14th.
  17. I don’t know about that…I applied to Mills and UCSD and it seems no one else has heard back yet from them either. Hoping those places are just takin their sweet time…
  18. Ok, I’m really glad you guys are bringing this up, because this question always stumps me and I am too stupid to prepare some gist of an answer to it—I think every time I have answered it, it’s been a different answer (depends on my mood, what I’ve been looking at lately, etc). Also, the question of Where does your work fit into the scheme of painting (its history & contemporary relevance)? Which is a bit less intimidating because its less general, but still, it is SO loaded… It also relates to the question, “what are you doing in your work that makes it NEW? What makes it contemporary?” (this is a toughie esp. when it’s coming from someone who’s prodding you with the whole “painting is dead” challenge)… I mean, I think the question of how we “fit” can discuss the different schools of artmaking that inspire/influence us or that we feel we have similarities to, but there should be more…And for the question of “Why’s it new,” I usually mention a combo of details about my media, subject matter, process, context, blah blah, along with personal opinion about painting’s validity…but I wonder, out of all that, what is the meat that really satisfies the question? Anyone have any thoughts on these broad, but important, questions? How have you handled it in the past? Interested in how others approach this…
  19. thank you! do you have a site? (u can pm me if u dont want to post here)
  20. hey, thanks so much for posting these, they're great! good luck with your slade interview!
  21. May I ask what questions you have come up with? I haven't gotten an interview yet, but I'm really hoping I will, and if/when that happens I was thinking I would try to do the same kind of thing of making a list...Of questions about my work, art historical references, etc., but also even just of questions that are kind of trivial but still find me stumbling to answer them (broad questions like...what do u do in your free time besides paint? i was asked that one last year, and I had a hard time with it because, I mean, where to start? I'm not exactly the best at thinking on-the-spot, especially when i'm nerrrvous) Just curious about which ones you've come up with.
  22. Got a rejection letter from Slade in the mail today orangetrousers, I also applied to Hoffberger and RISD Painting and have not heard a thing. I think I remember from last year that RISD's interview invites came a little later, but I was emailed an interview invite from Hoffberger on the 16th, so I hope we hear something soon.
  23. cool, congrats! what was the offer? is it an in-person interview?
  24. How was your phone interview at Penn? Did they say anything about why they wanted an interview? I applied there too, and figured the worst since I wasn't contacted to interview, but I called them yesterday and was told that different people do interviews for different reasons, and that you can still get in without an interview...don't know whether to believe in that, bc it seems like a bunch of ppl on here got interviews, but who knows...
