As long as you're polite about it, what's wrong with asking? It's your right to ask, and if they can't the worst they'll do is say "no"

I'm really curious about how long these people take to read your application, and wonder if that plays a role in screwing a lot of deserving people over. For example, they seemed to appreciate/criticize really tiny details in my application, but overlook several EGREGIOUSLY bad undergraduate grades (Cs/Ds)? At a top-3 engineering school sevearl years ago, yes, but to make *no* mention or criticism of them at all in three reviews, for example? I mean what, did they glance at my file for 30 seconds ands skim the essays for the bold words?

meggo, PLEASE DONT. this process is SO arbitrary. Looking at some of hte people from my school on the list who DID get it versus some who didn't makes me laugh -- many of the ones who were denied were MILES more qualified than the others.

thanks for the tip! i'll have to look into that. at the moment I'm checking school's webmail on an iphone, I've stopped delivery to a gmail account that I have a notifier app/push enabled for.

How many times can I refresh school webmail before I develop repetitive strain, or break my e-mail?

Does anyone have a link to the facebook page(group? fanpage) where the seeemingly-reliable stuff about 2009-2010 NSF GRFP was posted? I can't find it in Search for some reason.

So is the consensus that results will be posted before e-mails are sent out?

So I guess everyone's sure the results are going up tonight? eek

Yep, gonna be up all night. Sitting on a research paper I was supposed to submit this morning that I'm way too paralyzed to work on because of my NSF-related anxiety.

Actually the panel sessions were in Feb., with some delayed until March because of snow. It's possible the blizzards pushed the announcements back until April.

Boston I'm EE too and I counted (heh) between 35/40 awards given last year. What I couldn't figure out was how many EEs had applied..

Somehow I doubt it. I bet a person in that student's department was a panelist or had some sort of connection to the NSF.
