Hey! May you share your profile please..

Education consists of a Honours BA in Sociology as well as a Honours BPH (in progress). My cGPA of all of my credits (close to 40) is a 3.3.

My BPH last two years is a 3.9 GPA.

I have both work and volunteer experience in public health, both over 2 years.

Gained some research experience completing my undergraduate thesis.

Hi I was wondering if anyone had any insights about the Brock MPH program? Specifically, the fact that it's relatively newer and online - I'd appreciate some feedback on it! (Does anyone know someone who's been through the program and might be able to answer specific questions I have?)

    Thanks!

Current Brock student who has been accepted into the MPH program and accepted their offer. I know a lot of people who have completed it so I can try my best to answer your questions or find someone who can :)

hey, i just got accepted to waterloo but i haven't received any e-mail or other notification yet. the portal lacks a lot of info, including when i have to accept by, so i was just wondering if anyone knew when i should expect to be contacted with more details?

Congrats! I also got into Waterloo and you have 2 weeks to accept or decline your offer. Should state in your letter!

I will be denying my spot so one should open up for someone else.

In simple English, the letter is non conditional (no conditions ) it means you have met the university academic requirements

Haha thanks! Just me over analyzing, worried something will go wrong ?. Took me a solid 3 days before I actually believed the offer was real.

  5. Random question. On one of my offer letters, it says “Condition(s) for Admission: None”.

This means no maintaining any average, correct? I already have a degree so I feel like that’s why it’s non conditional.

Just got acceptance at Waterloo! I've now heard back from all schools and time for decisions.. I was set on UAlberta but now I'm unsure. Any input on UWaterloo vs UAlberta for MPH???? HELP!

Congrats. Did your portal change or did you get an email?

Congrats! Well the MPH at Brock is a fairly new program. It was only launched in 2016 so there isn't much information out there yet.  Queen's seems to be a more established program.

This is true. Keep in mind Brock does have the oldest Bachelor of Public Health program in Canada. Many of the BPH professors are actually the MPH professors, so the teaching quality is definitely there.

I am hoping to learn a little bit more about the 1-year Brock MPH program as well. If it is not too much to ask, would you be able to share/message me any information or thoughts you have about the program? It would really help me with making my decision on which program I should choose!

Feel free to send me a message with your questions :)

Thanks so much! I'm looking forward to getting the email because that'll definitely feel more official! I'm still waiting on some responses before I decide, but this was definitely good news to receive today! ?

In regards to questions, I have heard this program is fairly new, and I'm curious to know how it'll run since it's also a distance program. Do you happen to know anything about how the program is generally, placement opportunities (I'm assuming they'll be ones close to where you live since we needed to mention that in our SOI), and how it would compare to a traditional 2-year MPH program?

I sent you a message because I had a lot to say haha

Congrats to everyone on their acceptances! I haven't received an email from Brock yet, but my status says "Admitted" on the portal so I'm super confused. Is this just me?

I also got into Brock as well. You will probably get an email tomorrow when the school opens or later this week. I’m a current student at Brock as well so let me know if you have any questions.

I will be accepting my Brock offer!

  11. Just submitted one of my two applications!

Applying to Waterloo and Brock as I need an online program.

Education consists of a Honours BA in Sociology as well as a Honours BPH (in progress). My cGPA of all of my credits (close to 40) is a 3.3. Not expecting this to increase as trying to get this up once you have 40 credits is next to impossible lol.

My BPH last two years is a 3.8 GPA. cGPA on this degree is 3.3 (79%) because of some unsavoury grades that carried over to my second undergraduate degree.

I have both work and volunteer experience in public health, both over 2 years.

References were from an employer and a professor at my university.

Also have research experience in the form of an undergraduate thesis.

    Good luck all!

Has anyone who was offered Waitlist admission from UT Health Promo on May 1st, heard anything back yet? Or have you contacted the department since?

When I contacted admissions today to inquire about waitlist positioning, she told me everyone would have an offer or rejection letter by June 30th

  13. 21 minutes ago, Mph17 said:

A letter or an email? Were you told you were on the wait list before or is this the first you're hearing of it?

It was an email for Epidemiology and this is the first I've heard of it. My application still says under review. They just requested I reply to the email saying whether or not I wanted my spot held (yes obviously)!

  14. Emailed Guelph because I still haven't heard and was told that they have sent out all of their acceptances and waitlist notifications and that because I hadn't heard yet, I would likely be receiving a rejection notification.

"Thank you for email. Admission to the program is highly competitive and we receive many more applications than spaces available. Successful applicants have been notified via Web Advisor. Candidates on the wait list have also been contacted. Unfortunately, if you have not been notified that you are on the wait list or received an Offer of Admission, you will be likely be receiving a refusal. All applicants will be given a final notification regarding their application, but due to the large number of applications received the notification process will take time"

I still haven't heard anything from Queens, Guelph or Western yet either. The waiting might just kill me.

I haven't heard from Guelph either, so I emailed them today asking for some info. WebAdvisor is still showing All Documents Recieved and no email like they said.

Im coming from a non traditional sociology background, 78% average, so I'm not expecting an acceptance.
