I have been hearing reputation of school is important for application. How is the reputation of Stony Brook considered in the statistics/biostat community? I am a masters student there right now who also did BA and going to apply to PhD programs in the Fall. We don't have a full statistic department, only 5 faculty. Is the reputation considered good or no? What will this mean if I don't have such a strong GPA?
