Hi all,
I'm new on here, hello! I am doing a project on representations of the Western Frontier in American culture--in "tourist ghost towns" and modern casinos. I am interested in the persistence of the Wild West in the American collective imagination, studying why it is so appealing, and how it brings people together.
I was accepted to U of Nebraska-Lincoln's Communication Studies MA in Rhetoric and Public Culture!! Have you guys heard of their program? Could any of you tell me about Lincoln's nightlife? (I'm from Portland... I know it won't be great, but I really want an artsy/fun town)
Here are the other schools/programs I applied to:
CU Boulder - Communication MA
U of Texas-Austin - Communication MA
U of Utah - English/Rhetoric MA
Oregon State - Rhetoric MA
U of Oregon - Folklore MA
Utah State - Folklore/American Studies MA
University of Nevada, Reno - English/Rhetoric MA
U of Memphis - Communication Studies MA
Northern Arizona University - Communication Studies MA
Montana State - American Studies MA
U of Idaho - Interdisciplinary MA
U of Alabama - American Studies MA
Penn State Harrisburg - American Studies MA
...PHEW!
Anyways, what do you guys think of UNL??
