Hi,
Brazilian student here. Don't know how I could translate my GPA into American GPA, and don't know what are my chances in a top US grad school in my field (Chemistry), like MIT, UIUC or Caltech, so here are the facts:
-Final undergrad GPA: 7.769/10.000 (earned me a "most distinguished student award", for being the top student in my class, something like cum laude I think - note that there is no honors system in Brazil)
-(Probable) final master's GPA: 9.800/10.000 plus at least a couple of articles published in good IF journals. Grad school GPA's are usually larger than undergrad ones in Brazil
-Work experience in my field (in fact I work and do my Master's concomitantly)
- School the 4th best in Brazil overall and 2nd best in Chemistry (grad and undergrad done at same school)
So what would be my GPA if I were to translate it into American GPA? Do I stand any chance in getting to a top grad school for my PhD? Help would be greatly appreciated
