  1. I am trying to be very realistic. I have a terrible UG GPA, an ok Grad GPA, and a pretty good GRE score. I know a top 50 isn’t for me. But, do you think between 50-85 is doable? I am thinking UCONN, Kansas, Utah, etc. Undergrad: Economics Undergrad GPA: 2.9 Masters: Economics Graduate GPA: 3.52 GRE: V: 160 Q: 164 LOR: Masters Thesis Advisor and a Masters Committee member Years out of UG: 3 Years out of Masters program: 1 Work Experience: Entrepreneur (owned business in college), Development Loan Officer, Treasury Risk Associate at a Multinational bank Thanks for any replies. I appreciate your time.
  2. After browsing, I was hoping I could get some help. I received my BS in economics. I then enrolled into an MS in economics. I will graduate next semester and have realized how much more interested I am in the qualitative side of economic research and am interested in pursuing a PhD in sociology. So the question is, will my economics background be a positive for admission, or will it be something I need to explain why I am switching course. I would appreciate any advise. Also, for more context I will be applying to a variety of PhD programs throughout the top 50. My BS and MS are from the same state school with a heterodox economics program.
