  1. I don't know if you've seen the results page (maybe you're one of the posters ), but it seems like so many people are still waiting for any kind of response from Cornell! Good luck to everyone! Has anyone made their decisions yet?
  2. Personally, I didn't apply but I do know people who have heard back from Cornell and Columbia. The person I'm thinking of who was accepted into Cornell hasn't accepted their offer yet (as far as I know), so nothing seems finalized. Have you searched the results page?
  3. I received the same message today, so it seems like the portal was slow to update.
  4. I saw on the results page that someone received an acceptance from the musicology department at UC Berkeley...Has anyone else received acceptances, rejections, or waitlist notices? Out of curiosity, how many schools have people heard back from at all compared to how many they applied to? I've been in contact with three and applied to six.
  5. Here's hoping that they'll give you a swift response! Do you feel it went well?
  6. No clue, but I'm curious as to whether you have heard of someone who has received an interview (or if you did yourself, and if so, congratulations) and for what program?
  7. Well hopefully anyone who hasn't heard ANYTHING (from whatever school) might potentially be in the running even if they aren't (for example) candidates 1-4 on the list, and will be sent acceptances a little later!
  8. Congratulations and so there's a potential that we end up in the same cohort! That's amazing! Yeah, I imagine that they know but might be working out financial packages before sending out the word. I'm really hoping this is the week! Luckily I've got one admit (UVA), so I'm not too worried about hearing back anymore, just having trouble concentrating on both my undergrad and preparing for graduate!
  9. I didn't post about either, but I've had a (musicology) interview with Berkeley a week ago and was invited to interview at UCLA on February 20-21.
  10. Does anyone have an idea how soon after an interview schools tend to notify applicants of a decision? I've had an incredible week--an offer from one of my top schools and an interview with another. I'm hoping to hear back relatively soon from all of my schools so that I don't make a bad impression at or make things difficult for my potential program...
  11. I submitted my last application last night for NYU. It's a lot easier to tell others not to worry, but I do definitely feel the same anticipation. It's difficult to determine how strong of a candidate you are and how likely it is you will get into a program. Luckily, I feel very strongly about every program I applied to (Harvard, Columbia, UCLA, UC Berekely, UVA, and NYU) and so I'd be happy to get only one acceptance out of six, but my goal is to get two acceptances and have some options open to me. Hoping to hear at least some news by the end of January, but I have a feeling that it won't be until the middle of February until I even start getting rejections, let alone any acceptances.
  12. Ks391262 and I'mReallyScared, sorry to hear about the bad start! You both have a bit more experience than I do with graduate applications, but it does seem that rejections come much faster than acceptances! While the waiting game isn't fun, we still have quite a few months before all offers are made by programs. Best of luck with the rest!
  13. Just submitted my UCLA and UC Berkeley applications. I always knew the waiting game would be tough, but I'm already checking my email constantly to make sure I didn't miss anything. I guess this will be the next few months!
  14. I'm right there with you. Applying to graduate programs with only a Bachelor's and I've met some really amazing candidates who already have their Master's and are adjuncts. It's intimidating, and I do think that we're generally at a disadvantage. I'm hoping some programs will actually give preference to a younger student because we're a rare breed! Good luck!
  15. Hello, all. This is my first round of applications for Ph.D. programs in musicology. I am extremely nervous because I had quite a lot happen to me during my undergraduate which prevented me from having two writing samples prepared. So, I'm currently editing my applications and writing a sample all in time for a Dec.1 deadline. I'm applying to Columbia, Harvard, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UVA, and NYU. Also, is anyone going to AMS this week? It would be interesting to bump into each other there!
