With Baylor I suggest you contact the second choice program director. Sometimes when the application is sent to the second choice, people forget to take a look at it. This happened to me with IMBS and MVM. Contacting the program director ended up with me receiving an interview and acceptance. Good luck.

Thank you so much for the reply! :)Unfortunately, I received a rejection from my second choice program as well. At least they returned.

I have been invited for an interview from only one program, so I feel stressed.

Congratulations to everyone who has already got acceptance :)

  2. Hi everyone!

I've just got a rejection from NYU Sackler.

I wonder if there is anyone heard back from Brown MCB or Columbia Biological Science (GSAS).

My application was transferred to my second choice of program Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, but ı haven't heard after that. My application is still under review.

I also haven't heard back from UNC BBSP, ı assume it will be rejection.

I heard nothing. Let me know if you end up "bothering them" and what they say:)

I didn't receive any other emails, but I did receive a package in the mail with a schedule, print out of the invitation to interview email, and a bunch of booklets describing the graduate program and research at Rockefeller.

Has anyone who received a Rockefeller invite heard anything after submitting the Google form? Trying to decide if I should bother them or just sit tight.

I haven’t heard back, either. The deadline for the questionnaire was 19th of January, they may return after the deadline.

Anyone have information on the following programs or know if they're still going to be sending out invites?

    1. Columbia University, Biological Sciences (GSAS)
    2. University of Chicago, Molecular Biosciences (Genetics, Genomics, and Systems Biology)

And to share, here are the schools I've received invites from (all before Jan 1st)

    1. UPenn (Genomics and Computational Biology)
    2. Cornell (Genetics, Genomics, and Development)
    3. Duke (Genetics and Genomics)
    4. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (PIBS, Human Genetics)
    5. Baylor College of Medicine (Molecular and Human Genetics)
    6. University of Wisconsin - Madison (Genetics)

If anyone applied to JHU (Human Genetics), I've contacted them and they said they will be sending out invites on January 17th.

Anyone hear from Brown MCB and Boston University PBis?

I also applied for Brown MCB and Columbia Biological Sciences, still waiting.

Also waiting on UNC BBSP (but with a primary interest in neuroscience), I'm beginning to think that no positive news is coming on that front :( Someone last month said that everyone was going to hear back by the week of the 22nd or something, but there's been nothing but complete silence as far as I can tell. At least Northwestern had the courtesy to reject me formally <_<

I could be wrong, maybe they are still sending more invites! I haven't heard anything from my remaining 3 schools, and all of my interview invites came before Christmas (UVM email 12/12, UMich PIBS call from neuro dept on 12/15, official email on 12/18, CWRU BSTP email on 12/18). Feeling bummed out that I might not be hearing back from the remaining schools, but I'm still tentatively hopeful! Wishing you the best of luck :D

UNC BBSP told me that review process is still taking place and they still have offers to give out. They expect to send notifications by mid-late January.

I would respond after filling out the form. Just say something like "I've completed the form and look forward to meeting you at the interview." For me, personally, it's like insurance that they know I'm interested in case something happens and the form doesn't go through. Also shows enthusiasm.

    Thank you for advice! :)

  7. Hi everyone!

I got invitation to an interview. They don’t expect any answer, since we will fill in a form to schedule the interview date. Should I reply the email to thank for the invitation. I am not sure because I also do not want to take Dean's time.

Has anyone going to the interview for BCMB program at Weill Cornell been contacted by the travel agency? Since the interview is in two weeks I'm wondering if I should send them an email.

    Hi!

I also applied Weill Cornell BCMB and I haven't heard back. If I did not get it wrong, weill cornell sent you an invitation for an interview. I wonder if they give you any information whether there will be a second cycle invitations? I thought the interview days held in February, but if it is in the middle of January, maybe I contact them to get information if they are finished sending invitations.

I tried the multi quote thing but I can't figure it out on my phone. I just called UNC and now they told me we should hear back by mid-January especially if we are getting an interview. So yeah no worries lol

Thank you for letting us know! I am very excited

I haven't heard anything from them either, if that makes you feel any better. Hopefully we'll hear next week.

Im actually worrying too, because I was told I'd hear back before the end of the week and nothing. I was starting to worry my application fell through the cracks but hopefully we hear back.

I also haven't heard anything either! I might contact a friend who's a 1st year there and ask if she knows anything......I wouldn't be too worried, as I do think they send things out in january, so it's not totally hopeless. Plenty of schools send out invites well into the new year.

Best of luck and happy holidays! :)

I hope we all hear back, happy Christmas and new year :)

  11. Hi!

I wonder if the schools send the rejection answers after sending all interview invitations. Many people received an invitation to interview from UNC BBSP. I received neither a return nor a rejection. I'm starting to worry

I hope we all get acceptance from the schools we want.  Good luck everybody!

Your numbers are good and the amount of research experience is okay, though a bit on the lower side for the schools you’re applying to. I don’t think your chances of getting in are particularly low. However, you should be aware that getting in as an international student is more competitive, so domestic applicants are not best suited to gauge your chances.

I feel like a strong SOP that is well tailored to the schools you are applying to and good rec letters will boost your chances :)

Some questions: Why are you applying to those schools in particular? Do you have at least 5 people you are interested in in each? Who will write you third letter?

For cancer biology, programs affiliated with medical schools might be your best bet.

Thank you so much for your reply! I have research groups that I am interested in these schools and diverse research opportunities specially attract me.  One of my referees is my current PI, other is from Cambridge and the third one is a Professor from my university who I took immunology classes.

I know that applications will be competitive. My GRE score isn’t very good and I will not be able to take GRE Subject test. Also, I don’t have any publication which is another disadvantage for me. I hope I can show my commitment in my SOP and everything goes well :)

  13. Hi!
