I asked, they said after the committee meeting and that took place in February, so I think if we are unlucky they announce decision in March
by the way, does anyone of you already learn german? I have seen that’s also a selection criteria.

I think we can’t take this case as orientation because for master they send the results earlier than for PhD! Just asked the daad and they told me status should be selection made before it is rejection or funding

when did you apply for phd funding?!
The end of application for the program I applied was 31st Sep, and I am situated in center of Balkans. I don't know whether they go with the selection from location to location or by some other criteria.
End of August was my deadline
yes I think they go by location and if I am not wrong in recent years USA applicants got to know it quite late.. to me they said the meeting is in February and after that they let me know

Is your status "selection made" or "preselection made"?! Because mine is the latter.
Edit: I do not quite understand the procedure behind these two statuses...what is the difference and why do so applicants have one statues while others have the other status?!
That could a good sign, couldn't it? I mean if it means they send out rejections first and after that the acceptances? But again really no clue

On a side note, the funding for the Masters scholarship I've applied for starts on 1st Oct, but the application deadline for the german unis start on 15th April, so I thought Daad would make the selection before that.
Ohh I am sorry, don't get influenced too much by what I said, I have actually no clue neither
plus I applied for phd funding, so there might be a difference too.

I hope it turns out well, because I got rejected by some other scholarships and I am losing hopes. Haha, though I was wondering why does it take them this long?! Anyway, I hope ya'll get positive responses, best of luck I dont wanna take your hopes away but the discussions in recent years indicated that the "selection made" status should not last longer than a week for an acceptance :/ On the other side, its not selection made but preselection made for you.

I think it is, I asked them and they said “status of preparation for stay in germany” is one of the criteria. Even though I only have A1 in german.
nope, both are informed at the same time.
