  1. I feel conflicted. I have only one acceptance. Now I love the research being performed at this school however the local region is not as suitable for me as it seemed like from online research. I have health conditions that I need to take care of and I worry that this area would not be suitable for my health as it is not as urban in person as the other schools I applied to. I feel silly thinking about not going to graduate school when I was accepted, but I also don't want to spend years at risk of harming my health due to being in a place with less access to the resources I need. I wish I had more options.

  2. I always planned that if my graduate applications didn't work out I would try for a postbacc.

I didn't apply to NIH PREP programs because I felt I didn't fit the "diversity" that these programs asked for, but I did apply for the NIH IRTA program a few weeks ago.

I've had interest from that end, but no faculty yet that I have been interested in. Past years indicate I'm late to the game but I am staying hopeful that someone will have a late opening left.

I applied to others as well but I'm keeping those anonymous for now because those programs are much more specific.

I have a decent GPA and ~2 years research experience. Hopefully that helps me get into a postbac somewhere.

Anyone else not get an interview or rejection from UNC BBSP?  Would appreciate at least some closure, as I am waiting in limbo land on 4 programs with ~Dec 1 application deadlines.

My email did not go into my main inbox, it went into a different folder because I use gmail. If you have multiple folders or a spam folder I would check there.

Official rejection from UNC BBSP via email. It was pretty obvious I wasn't getting an interview so I'm in no way surprised.

    On to the next one!

Same here. It was my top choice, but also the most prestigious school I applied to, so maybe I reached too high.

I'm honestly glad they at least give out official rejections unlike some programs.

  5. I wish more schools would send updates on the admission committee progress / app decisions. 3/5 schools I have heard absolutely nothing from and those were Dec 1st deadlines.  Some communication would be nice! I am sure I have likely been rejected from these programs at this point but I would like to actually be told that rather than speculating on an application portal that has not updated since submission.

Honestly so annoyed by this that if I don't get into a school I like this cycle I may remove some of these mutes from future application cycles.

Getting super nervous and imposter-syndome-y, especially only having 3 interviews with dead silence from all my other apps. This is a weird process and I can't figure out for the life of me why some of these programs have decided I'm worth interviewing vs. someone else equally qualified. Aaaaahh.

Honestly I feel like so many people are equally qualified for a program that there is a bit of randomness in who gets past the initial stage. You win some, you lose some. It also highly depends on the personalities of the committee, who may be looking for x, y, or z in a candidate and they are trying to glean that information from the limited data they are given.

  7. My parents keep talking about how much they want me to get into my top school and it's driving me crazy! I'm pretty sure I'm receiving a rejection at this point so it's pretty frustrating. I managed to get 2 interviews from my other schools and they don't even seem to care...

Has anyone heard from any of these programs/has any idea if they are still sending out invites?

Emory GMB (I've seen other Emory programs posted but not this one)

Brandeis CMB (haven't seen anything yet!)

UPenn CAMB (seen a few a while back but not sure if they're still sending anything out!)

    NYU Sackler

Boston PIBS (saw earlier post^ but if anyone else has heard anything!)

I had a phone interview with Emory GMB in December then haven't heard back. I was told after the phone interview they were choosing who to invite to in-person interviews before Christmas. I assume I have been waitlisted or rejected.

  9. Anyone out there who applied to programs with a primary interest in epigenetics?  I haven't heard back from any of my schools where I put it as my first interest(Like UNC BBSP)...

I think I've been rejected by my one program which never contacted me after my phone interview a month ago...I'm waiting on 4 others, including UNC BBSP.  Super nervous because 4/5 of my schools seem to have started offering interviews last month, and there is no updates on any on my application portals.
