  1. deciding where to go... GMU or PSU

  2. I put that up yesterday as soon as I got the acceptance letter, but now that I actually have to send in the deposit it's making me step back and think. So yes help please
  3. I'm still deciding on going to GMU, but at this point it looks like I am going here ... so anyone else who is going to GMU go ahead and chime in!
  4. So, I got into both of the schools in which I applied. I was thinking I wasn't going to get into GMU so I was thinking all weekend on why Penn State would end up being better for me. Well, yesterday I got an acceptance letter from GMU and now the place I really wanted to go, I am doubting. And here's why: Penn State is in state tuition for me: ~$550/credit GMU: ~$1050/credit for the first year until I hopefully receive instate tuition The GMU program is ranked better by about 20+ schools. Penn State has an online program so I wouldn't have to pay for housing and they have a wonderful alumni network and what I mean is that everyone has heard of penn state or knows someone who went there in some major or another. George Mason... not so much Is it worth the expense to be in DC and a little bit better school for a masters in Public Policy? Also, I just got married on New Years Eve so I would be away from my husband. We know it will be hard but we understand it will help us both out in the long run if I end up choosing GMU.
  5. Does this sound bad when the secretary says "we can't give decisions over the phone"... that sounds like a rejection to me :-(
  6. I got in to Penn State's MPA program and my only other school I applied to was George Mason. Does anyone know about this program?
  7. Why didn't you get your recommender's to send them electronically? I had mine send it through the system and e-mail it to the school directly. Janet, the secretary, told me that e-mailing it to the school directly would be the best bet.
  8. My application was only completed about 2 1/2 weeks ago, but I'm an impatient person. I don't think I will get in because of my low 3.27 GPA so I ended up sending my yes notification to Penn State already.
  9. So I applied to George Mason -- Public Policy and they say it takes six weeks to get a letter from them and this is my reach school. I have a 3.27 GPA and 3.48 in major and a year work experience in the non-profit world, but before my current school I was an opera performance major and pretty much failed out because my mom passed away a week before starting school. I wrote and addendum, but the waiting is killing me. I know they say 6 weeks, but can anyone tell me how long it took them to receive their letter from GMU? I at least got accepted to Penn State (my backup school) for their MPA.
