Hi guys! I’m going to Oregon State this fall for my PhD in Applied Economics. I would love to hear from anyone who are going to Oregon State!

Anyone here going to Oregon State?

First, big congrats! I would choose MSU for two reasons: 1. I think MSU is stronger in development econ. OSU gets several good faculties in development econ, but the department is more focused on Environmental and resource econ. 2. Though life is easier without doing any RA job lol, I would think RA job as a good preparation for publishing papers and working with professors. And obviously recent years job market candidates from MSU get more publish than those from OSU.

I wrote to Minnesota they said there would be very small chance that they could send out second round offers with funding.

Not yet. They said final decisions were made last week. Those who don’t get email this week don’t get allocated funding in the first round. Good luck!

Have you heard anything about funding from Oregon State?

Ag Econ at Ohio State has sent out first round offers at the end of January. I got an admission from Minnesota without funding.

Nope. Not yet. Said decisions are still being made. (Did you get admission from Oregon State? Any words about funding?)

But their ddl for funding priority is mid January… how could it be so fast?

No problem:) I applied a bunch of applied econ programs except one econ program at Iowa State. I got an admission from Oregon State this week. Said they will decide about funding by the end of this week. UMD is my dream school! But I haven't heard from it yet. Really nervous now

For agricultural econ/ applied econ.
