Hello all, It is getting pretty late in the waiting process, and I was hoping to receive some advice from you all. I applied to two schools, Pitt and CMU, for electrical engineering PhDs (I also applied for a Masters at CMU) for Fall 2018. I was planning to specialize in machine learning with applications in biometrics. It is now pretty late and I have not received any correspondence from either of the schools. At this point, I am sure that I was or am going to be rejected, but that is not eating me up too badly because I was not sure how much I wanted to do biometrics anyway. I am just really curious at this point. Shouldn't I have received a rejection or something by now? Would it be a good idea to reach out to them and check the status? Please let me know when you can.

I applied to two electrical engineering programs to focus on machine learning and signal processing. I am expecting a decision next week from one of the schools I applied to, and the anticipation is killing me.
