I just heard from University of Houston today! No email, but I checked the applyweb portal and once they have made a decision, it will show "view your decision letter."  If you get in, it'll also say "complete your decision form" next to it!  Hoping to hear back about funding soon so I can make a decision.  After interviewing with them, I really feel like this school is the best fit!

    Good luck to you! :)

I also got accepted! Let me know what you decide; maybe we will be classmates!

  2. If you have to do it, you have to do it! People will tell you you're crazy for commuting that much; but honestly, you will get used to it. It isn't forever, and you will have breaks for holidays/spring breaks/etc. I would make sure you are able to spend a good deal of time on campus, though (don't just show up for class and go home). Be a part of the community, go to study sessions and enjoy the experience! But an hour isn't so bad. I know people who commute far longer for work, and that's 50 weeks a year.

  3. I can't imagine this would be the reason you did or didn't get in! I used to work in a graduate admissions office at Ohio State, and people formatted personal their personal statements in all sorts of ways. I can't remember if we specified a certain spacing on our website or not, but regardless, we didn't care about formatting at all.

They're going to read your statement regardless, y'know? If it's good, it's good. If it's not, it's not. I applied to University of Houston as well, and everybody I've talked to has been helpful, kind and not-so-serious. I can't imagine it's worth stressing!
