  1. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I mean that, from my knowledge, UCSD has chosen their first round of applicants they want to admit to the program. But, if any of those take another offer, then it'll trickle down to the wait list. I don't know necessarily whether UCSD tells people that they are on the waitlist or not though. It's also worth keeping in mind that the selection committee for incoming grad students isn't made up of the entire composition faculty -- a few take turns each year. So, maybe you've had prior interaction with one of the professors -- they may or may not be on the committee to view your application that year. Hope that clears it up a bit.
  2. Current UCSD student here. As far as I'm aware, all acceptances have been sent out there. But, I know someone in the course who was admitted from the waitlist on the final day in April. Any interviews are usually informal. Hope that gives you some clarity.
  3. Any news out of Stanford for any of their programs?
  4. Not an ethnomusicology applicant, but I was wondering if anyone has heard back from composition programs from any of the big schools yet?
  5. I was accepted into the MM (comp) course but my letter was dated a week and a bit earlier. So it's possible they're releasing things in blocks? Perhaps based on being domestic/cali local/international? Either way, I wouldn't give up until you've got something solid, I suppose. Good luck!
  6. Ditto. Got a rejection dated 1st February. I've applied for 8 unis with 3 rejections, 1 wait list, and a pending interview. I'm getting really worried about flat out rejection across all of them at this point. Should I be?
  7. I was also wait listed for Stanford. For composition instead of musicology though. I'm curious on how many applicants they put on the wait list.
