  1. Do you know how many people are accepted each year or how big a typical cohort is? I feel like #2 is very likely to get funding if a program accepts and enrolls large numbers but would be much less likely at a very small program that only offers acceptances to a few people, just by sheer numbers since someone is gonna turn their offer down if there's enough people given offers. I feel like you could probably email and ask about their cohort size and number of funded offers, it seems like the kind of information any school would be willing to share
  2. I don't know if it helps at all but I just declined the same Syracuse offer (accepted but waitlisted for funding in literature MA) so with any luck hopefully that means you/other people who are actually considering going are closer to getting funding? I hope you get good news soon! I've visited Syracuse a few times for extracurricular events during my undergrad and it's a great campus although it's suuuper cold and windy (that's coming from someone born & raised in CT, lol) so if you're used to southern weather that might be a bit hard to deal with at first, definitely buy a fluffy parka or three if you end up there! My current roommate is actually going to the University of Alabama for her master's in athletic training and she visited last week and loved the campus
  3. @slouching Yeah I applied to the literary & textual studies program at Bowling Green!
  4. @slouching I'm glad to hear from another k-state acceptee! Out of curiosity I creeped a little bit on your profile (sorry lol) and happened to see you mentioned that you were also accepted to Bowling Green -- that's actually the other school I'm strongly considering (+Texas a&m kinda) alongside Kansas! Both seem pretty great so it's nice getting more info about Kansas to try and decide
  5. I'm a longtime lurker but I've been getting excited/stressed about my results and wanted to join in -- I just got an (MA) acceptance from Texas A&M in the mail today, and now I'm trying to start deciding between there, Kansas, and Bowling Green, my other two acceptances I just want to hear back on the rest of my applications ASAP so I can start stressing about choosing a program instead of about results!
  6. @throwaway2018 @CulturalCriminal@LilyFart Thank you for the info! I'm definitely nervous about the cultural differences but I have a lot of family from the south and conservative religious backgrounds so I'm hoping they've prepared me a little bit. I'll definitely take a look at the city forum, too, thank you for the recommendation. I'm really glad to hear that the MA program is good -- it's interesting to hear that the lack of a PhD program helps the MA program be stronger -- it makes a lot of sense, but I'd never thought of it that way!
  7. I've been trying to find out more about Kansas State's MA English program -- the most recent post about it here was from 2013, so I was hoping for some more up-to-date information/perspectives. I got into the English MA program (in cultural studies specifically) and I'm currently leaning towards going there over other options, but I wanted to hear about the program from anyone who's been a part of it or even just visited the school. I'm from Connecticut so Kansas would be a super different place for me, so if anyone has any perspective on moving from New England to Kansas/the mid-west that would also be great. Any info at all about KState's program/atmosphere would be awesome
