Guys once this is all over and we are all settled in our schools, apartments, ect. i think it would be so cool if we could all meet up somewhere in Germany in the Fall. I kind of want to make some sort of Facebook group or something to keep us all together? Thoughts?

Yes, please do. I'm so curious about everyone :)

I haven't returned it yet. Am not sure if we are supposed to sign it. I vaguely remember someone talking about this in this or the other forum.

I returned mine unsigned as it didn't appear to have anywhere to sign - let me know if you find out that is wrong!

Thanks. No, not yet. Yesterday, portal status changed from application submitted to selection made.

I think we got an acceptence email same time. Did u recieve letter of award from portal?

Just checked mine again and it's changed to initial funding. I was getting worried someone was playing a mean trick on me! :)

Congratulations!! No, not yet. I panicked and contacted my rep because I was worried I had somehow misinterpreted the email - but she said it would be a couple of weeks. You?

  5. If your status hasn't changed don't despair - I think it varies per country. I got an acceptance email last week and there is no change to my status in the portal. I asked the NZ rep and there is still two more weeks until the formal letters are being sent from Germany, so it seems they are still making decisions -- there is still hope! Sending best wishes to you all xx

do you have any prior knowledge of German? cause like if they're not giving you funding for the two months you have to do the language class isn't that kind of annoying?

No, I'm studying intro level German this semester in NZ, and that's it. I had asked to be considered for an intensive German class so I'm glad. I imagine if you're fluent it would be annoying - but at least it's in Germany so you will be able to enjoy whatever city it's in.

Congratulations. It must've been a massive relief, many of us here are still waiting to exhale.

I know you applied for an MA scholarship, but I believe that your experiences might have been similar to doctoral applicants'. Was your funding duration changed, because mine was changed and moved to April 2019 instead of October 2018 which was initially there. Were you sent your funding letter, in the case your funding was changed prior to this, did it reflect in the letter. When is your language course scheduled to begin.

Please reply as soon as can.

Nothing changed in the portal. It still reads as "Application Submitted" - at least in the place I have been checking. The email I got is a preliminary notification - apparently DAAD will send the "Letter of Award" including the financial details and all other necessary documents via DAAD portal after I confirm that I will accept the scholarship.

Dates of language course: "Starting date of your scholarship will be the 01.10.2018. The  fellowship includes a two months free-of-charge German language course which usually takes place prior to the fellowship in Germany (August/Sep. 2017)."

I hope your countries start notifying you all soon!.

    CONGRATULATIONS OMG!!!!

I'm in NZ, which, from DAAD correspondence is sorted into the Asia pacific region -- "Referat ST34 – Asien/Pazifik"

I found out in an email. It came so late at night, I had to check again this morning - now I'm obsessively re-reading the email as I can't believe it!

I hope you all find out soon!! Good luck!! I want to see you all at the language training in Germany.

so i know i shouldn't compare myself to other applicants, and i know not everyone wants to share information about their program or app. but i am curious. does anyone mind giving a mini explanation about what MA program they are interested in using the funding for (school/major) or what they want to write their thesis on/do research on? Mostly interested in those doing "graduate scholarship all disciplines 2018/2019" its such a broad category, i'm curious what other people are proposing.

    all in good spirit

I applied to  "graduate scholarship all disciplines 2018/2019". I am applying to Heidelberg University MA in Transcultural Studies (focused in Buddhist Studies/Philology). My favorite teacher got a Professorship at Heidelberg and asked me to go study with him. I haven't applied to the University yet, the MA starts in the Winter Semester so applications aren't open yet. Heidelberg itself is more of a sure thing because of my teacher, but I need money to live there, hence DAAD.

I'm curious about this too - What about you?

When I asked DAAD official in my region, they said that the DAAD official will have a meeting at the beginning of this month. The results will be notified by mid-week of this month to the applicants. All the best to everyone.

Do you mean midweek this week, or mid month?

  11. I also got that message after a couple of months. I was in contact with the New Zealand DAAD rep at the time and she said that was because they reject all of the applications that are missing documents, so that message is sent after it is established that the application is complete -- hence it taking a couple of months.

  12. I sent a message through the DAAD portal to ask when we would find out and they replied today -- apparently sometime during March. The last message I got said that we would be informed within three weeks of the meeting in January, so I had thought it would be any day now. I guess I can stop obsessively checking for now.

I'm in New Zealand though, so I'm not sure if will be different elsewhere. Also this is for an MA scholarship application.

  13. I'm so happy to find a forum with other people who have applied for this -- I have been looking for a while.

I applied for an MA scholarship. I haven't heard anything since I was advised my application got to Germany. I feel like I'm going crazy checking my email everyday. So no one has really heard anything yet?
