I have 7 more schools to hear back from (and another acceptance this afternoon!!!), but unless by some miracle I end up getting accepted to Brown, I'm definitely going with Saskatchewan.  Even then, Saskatchewan is not out of the question.

That sounds awesome! I've only ever been to Toronto (clearly not well traveled in Canada), but from what I've seen Saskatchewan's program looks great, especially based on what you said above. I'll definitely have to keep Canadian schools in mind for applications round 2. And congrats on your acceptance today!!! :)

I hope you hear back soon, and good luck with all of them!!

FYI for those applying again next year, if you're feeling adventurous, Canadian schools seem to receive a lot fewer applications and most have really decent funding.  It's probably where I'll end up this fall.

This is great to know, thanks! To be honest from the way things are looking right now I feel like I'll be applying again, and I've always thought Canada looked awesome. Where do you think you'll end up, if you don't mind me asking?

Also: bully for me, I did *not* use hone my skills. Or any variation thereof. Doesn't seem to have helped though. :/

While I agree with literally everything you said, this stood out to me because I refuse to check my personal statements/SOI out of fear that I will find this phrase everywhere.

As far as I'm aware, programs only notify Monday - Friday. If you're looking at the Results page, be careful, as there are two columns with dates: one has the actual date the person was notified as A/R/WL, and one with the date when the person posts that notification to this site -- for example, I've seen several people post today, Saturday, for notification they received yesterday, Friday.  Also, if someone's just looking at a portal on the school's website, versus receiving a phone call, they can do that any day/time, and that may account for any 'weekend' notifications. Hope this helps. Also, good luck with your applications!

Yeah, the Results page has tripped me up several times, so I normally double-check. That being said, somebody for one of the programs I've applied for did say they received a call this morning (I triple checked that it said the 24th, but maybe it was mistyped?). Ah well, I'm not placing my bets on hearing anything this weekend anyway. The waiting game is just so nerve-wracking!

Thanks so much for the reply! And thanks, good luck to you, too!!

  5. Hey everyone!
I've seen some results going up - it looks like some people are hearing back from their schools on weekends? This is my first round of applications, so I had just kind of assumed emails/phone calls would only happen during business hours! Does anyone know otherwise?

    Thanks and good luck! :)

  6. I'm applying to completely different programs but I've kind of tried to adopt the no hope method. That being said, that's kind of how I live my life in general - expect the worst, but hope for the best. I don't think it will get rid of the disappointment or sadness if things don't go the way we want, but it does kind of help me get through the day to day of waiting (except for the fact that it's still kind of unbearable).

I can't really speak to your GPA, but I do wish you the best!! Good luck!

I concur. I panic when I feel my phone vibrate, refresh my email, or check my mailbox. And I can't continue stress eating girl scout cookies. But, 'tis the season I suppose?

Same. :( I saw I had a missed call yesterday and the waves of nausea started, just for it to be a robo call. Oh man, girl scout cookies. I haven't bought a box, haven't seen anyone selling them! I've just been making a lotttt of boxed pudding.

Sorry in advance, but I would appreciate honest feedback as to what y'all think my odds are of getting into Long Beach, Fullerton, or Dominguez Hills, and I would really appreciate any feedback you have.

I had a 3.313 from UCI in Psychology and Social Behavior, and a 3.28 at my community college. My last 60 units were all at UCI, so 3.313 is my last 60 units. I want to work with child protective services, then move onto found my own wraparound program, my passion is with the kiddos.

I have just under a year of experience with special needs with respite care, 8 or so years of experience with children, 7 months of experience with at-risk youth, and 4 years of experience at a home for abused women and children. I was also part of an honor fraternity if that matters at all.

I currently work in accounting, just something to pay the bills, but a skill I also believe to be an important aspect to social work as it utilizes organization, management and office skills. Hope to hear from you all soon.

Again, good luck to you all!

Are you applying to social work programs or psychology programs? I don't know much from the social work standpoint, but as a psychology major, I know one thing that was pounded into our heads was how important a good GPA was for our chances of getting into a grad school program. That said, a 3.313 is pretty great for your last 60 units, and that much experience for the field you're interested in would definitely tip the tables in your favor, in my mind.

I obviously don't really know for sure, but I hope you find your place at one of those schools! It sounds like you want to do amazing things. Good luck!!

  9. Hey everyone!
This wait is turning out to be longer than expected. But anyway.

Field/Program: Creative Writing & Publishing (applied to mostly MFAs and one MA/MS)

Schools: Portland State (x2 programs), Hollins, Emerson, Virginia Commonwealth, and University of New Hampshire

Status: Accepted at Emerson, waiting to hear back from everywhere else

    Good luck everyone!!
