In case Johnic isn't around anymore, I did my masters at UND so I'll chime in.

I grew up in the upper Midwest, so the cold wasn't a huge adjustment for me. The University has shuttles that run from one end of campus to the other, and most buildings are connected to their neighbors by tunnels, either above or below ground. The wind is really what gets you, though. Grand Forks is one of the windiest places in the country, which isn't fun during the winter. If your car's engine is old, you might have a bit of trouble getting it to start on very cold mornings. Your apartment may have heaters/hookups for them. My car is a 2010, and I never had any issues.

Midcontinent (Midco) is the cable/internet provider there. I never had an issue with the internet, but the cable would go out every once in a while when it gets windy.

Thank you very much. I got an apartment on campus but I'm not sure if I would need a car. Do you think public transport is enough to cater for my needs?

  2. Do I still need to submit a certificate of finance before my I-20 is issued? I got a tuition waiver and a yearly stipend that covers the cost of the program.

I accepted the admission offer about 5 days ago and it's been radio silence since then.

    Hey,

I know this is super late, but if any has questions about Grand Forks I could problem answer them. I just graduated from UND and lived there for 5 years. Happy to help with any questions!

How were you able to cope in the cold weather? How's the internet service?

    1. It's still before March 15.

    2. Academics are really bad at deadlines. If you haven't heard in a week, it is probably not good news but it isn't over until it's over. If you do need to know about this decision before you can accept another offer you have pending, then follow up in a week.

    Thank you!

  5. Hello,

I got the following mail from the Program Director about a month ago:

"Thank you for taking time to talk with us yesterday. We will be making offers for admission before March 15."

I'm yet to receive an offer. Does this mean I have been rejected?

    Thank you for your time.

Hey! It's up to you, personally. I ended up contacting programs because I didn't keep waiting and acceptances were coming in left and right and didn't want to wait for nothing.

As for your case, maybe give it until after the weekend? From the little that I know, usually international students get acceptances first because they need to work visas.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you!

  7. Hello,

I'm an international student and I interviewed on Jan 31. After my interview, the program director told me the department will send out offers before March 15. I know its just the 2nd of March but the suspense is killing me. Should I contact the program director and ask for my admission status?

    Thank you for your time.
