I emailed the program director and the response was: "The Professors of the Graduate Review Committee are in the final process of making selections for Fall 2011. Letters will be sent out by March 15. " Hope that helps everyone relax a little.

Emailed them about the status of my application and they basically said you won't know anything for certain until April 15. They sent out their first round of acceptances, but haven't sent out any rejections yet. If I'm at the bottom of the list why can't they just put a nail in the coffin.

After emailing Jane yesterday, I was regretfully (isn't is always such) informed that they were very sorry but I would not be attending. So therefore no more stalking this thread. Everyone over there has been wonderful through the whole process and it was the kindest rejection I've gotten, but the hardest. UNC was my top choice. I'm starting to plan as if I'm not going anywhere in the fall. Congrats to those of you in and good luck to those of you still waiting. I hope you truly appreciate how great the school is.

No word yet, but you can check the status to make sure everything is in. They had one of the later deadlines, so I imagine that they are still sorting through the apps. Hopefully, we'll hear this week.

There were several electronic submission errors ... my application suffered this fate. And I had to do a lot to get everything to the right people; I even emailed today making sure my application was being evaluated and complete in their system. They said it was currently being evaluated. So ... keep waiting I guess.

Clearly, Brown has made its choices. Based on the several other rejections that were posted (mine included) and it looks like my other top choices have made their offers and I haven't heard anything. Quite discouraging.

Add me to the list of feeling shitty. While I've only been officially rejected by 2 of my 9 schools this time round, it seems like most of my other schools have already made their acceptance offers and I'm just this name way down on the list of potential back ups or not worth contacting. I worked my ass off too. Ugh. I just want the final bullets already. Let me move on if I'm not getting in. I can't wait until this process is over.

Well thats depressing ... sigh. They were my top pick. Why are they just leaving us waiting? I just want to know so I can start planning my life. ugh.

Does any one know how/when the Vanderbilt rejections/acceptance notifications go out? I hate this waiting game. So far two rejections: Duke and Brown. only 7 more schools to hear from. agony.

I just registered to retake my GRE's and Subject test yesterday, only to find out today as I registered accounts for the schools I'm applying that almost all of the schools have decided no longer to require it. If Yale and UVA weren't such traditionalists I could breathe easy and not stress about it. Are other fields of study doing the same? Is this a skewed sampled or are other Lit PhD seekers finding the subject test less and less relevant?

I've gotten 4 rejections ranging from my top choice to my last choice school. I'm still waiting on 2, but I'm not optimistic. I've already started studying to retake my GRE Subjects and started research for a new writing sample .... I guess it's gonna be all about Fall 2011 for me.
