  1. Expecting an expert opinion.. on this argument essay topic Argument Topics "A recent study of eighteen rhesus monkeys provides clues as to the effects of birth order on an individual's levels of stimulation. The study showed that in stimulating situations (such as an encounter with an unfamiliar monkey), firstborn infant monkeys produce up to twice as much of the hormone cortisol, which primes the body for increased activity levels, as do their younger siblings. Firstborn humans also produce relatively high levels of cortisol in stimulating situations (such as the return of a parent after an absence). The study also found that during pregnancy, first-time mother monkeys had higher levels of cortisol than did those who had had several offspring." Write a response in which you discuss one or more alternative explanations that could rival the proposed explanation and explain how your explanation(s) can plausibly account for the facts presented in the argument. Essay Starts Here: In this study, the provided clues only came from eighteen rhesus monkeys, which is not a sufficient number to make any major decision. The study also mentioned about encounter with unfamiliar monkey, but did not mention any observation about familiar encounter. Again there might be other factors influencing cortisol hormone. There is no statistical value given for firstborn human either. Also no clarification on the amount of hormone and expert opinion has made the issue very tenuous. The study also mentioned about first-time monkey pregnancy, but how many monkeys they studied is not pointed out and from which breed. Though at first a specific kind of monkey i.e. rhesus monkeys were mentioned but in the end only no specification on mother monkeys are mentioned. Also for the high cortisol hormone, other factors might be the reason like climate, food etc. So there is a lot of turbidity in this matter. Therefore no precise conclusion can be drawn here.
  2. This is my first essay writing on issue task. I want an expert opinion on my essay and what to improve. please respond... Issue Topics To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. Essay Starts Here: In order to understand a society, only studying its major cities is not a feasible way, rather studying the rural areas is more justifiable. Most of the people of a society live in rural areas. A person of a society represents the characteristics of that society. Therefore, to understand a society one must employ to study its people. Though most of the important business transection and official work take place in major cities, most of the production takes place in the rural areas. Some examples are: if paddy is the major production in a country then it is understood that that society’s main food source is rice. Again if there are too many rivers, then fish must be one of the major sources of food and boat must be the main transportation medium. Also it can be understood that the profession of major people must be farming and fishing. Someone may come to a conclusion that a society must be developed in economies by judging tall buildings and amenities the cities provide. But the truth might not be the same. It is possible that the rural area of the society is not developing and most of the wealth is only used to develop the urban part while the major part i.e. rural areas stay undeveloped. Therefore, to understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study not only the major cities but also rural parts.
