You know, if you have firefox there is a plugin that will automatically check your email every second
I mean that will automatically refresh the page every second.
That's a good point actually. The way programs work are so different. Some programs, like mine, you have to express interest in who you want to work with when you apply. There has to be room in the lab and funding available. But, I forgot other programs do it differently. I hear there are some programs out there where you have a ton of advisers.
I don't think they would find out who your adviser is, unless you offer it up in the essays or a letter of recommendation comes from him/her. I'm sure plenty of applicants leave it out, because it's not always as well defined as it is in my program. No worries.
Yeah, probably right. It's just that the stats of the people who get the award vary so much. For example, some people have awesome essay scores, gpas, etc. and still don't get it. Sometimes I wonder if it's just a who do you know thing.
Definitely too late for the GRE scores. I read somewhere (and I have no clue where) that a rater didn't think the applicant's GRE scores were high enough. This applicant never even sent them in! Weird.
hmmm I don't know if I believe that. Are you sure your friend wasn't joking? That would mean it could take up to 10 days and I think they want to get them up as soon as they can, because a lot of applicants need to know if they have funding before April 15th.
I've been cruising this site for about a week. I couldn't resist any longer. I've registered!
After seeing the new message on the fastlane site (maintenance), I really think tonight's the big night. From what I've read on this board, announcements are often made after 12, the site goes down for a few hours, and voila. The timing is right on, I'll be hanging out with my computer tonight and I don't think I'll be alone, will I?
