  1. I have a BA in Sociology and I'm planning on going back to school for a MA. I'm very interested in a career in social science research, but I don't consider myself ready to apply for a PhD program right now because I can't choose exactly what I want to focus on in Sociology. I'm interested in theory as well as topics like inequality, social stratification, social movements and racial/gender/sexual identities and their intersections. However, I am unsure how I can best explore and narrow down my interests given that some MA programs are stronger in certain subjects than others - for example, I know offhand that Loyola University has a strong focus in urban studies - but should I be prioritizing a school's research focus over other factors like financial aid and career placement? I have been operating under the assumption that it's best to pick a program with a strong focus in a topic of interest, yet I am unsure whether I want to limit myself this way. How can I factor in my varied sociological interests when finding the right MA program for me?
