Nope! And many papers are group papers, which means you are only responsible for one or two sections of it. There is a LOT of writing, but it is not as intimidating as other programs. All the social work classes I've taken only required 2-3 papers and a group assignment.

This is certainly a breath of fresh air! I'm much less nervous about the workload now. I generally enjoy group work, so this is more of a bonus than a negative. Of course I've had my share of frustrations, but... :)

In advanced level courses, I had to write upwards to 15 pages, which is not much compared to other graduate courses I've taken. You can go to writing centers on campus if you have difficulty with writing papers. I also encourage you to speak with professors if you feel your writing skills will be an obstacle in obtaining high marks.

15 pages?! You're not messing with me, right?

My last undergraduate research paper was just under 45 pages. I'll take 15 pages in a heartbeat! Maybe grad school won't be my own personal hell  after all.

Hey! I'm actually doing the 16 month program, Clinical Social Work. Practice will be Families, Youth & Children while minoring in Criminal Justice.

I really needed help with the personal statement question:

Describe a social problem of significance to you. Please discuss it with regard to: societal contributions to the origin of the problem; experiences that have contributed to your identification and understanding of the problem; and possible ways of addressing the problem.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

I had a very similar question for my program of choice. I decided to choose a particular field I had interest in (mental health) and then really took a narrow approach (focusing on adolescents with BPD). If you are too broad, you may find it challenging to address this question appropriately (especially in the page limit they provide).

  4. My application is currently under review for the 2019 MSW program at Washington University in St. Louis.

Although it says early decision is December 15, I seemed to get conflicting information that they MAY offer acceptance before the 'early decision' date.

Are there any other past applicants who may be able to confirm this information?

I am deciding between three other graduate programs, but would need a decision from WUSTL before graduation in December, as two of the other programs start Spring 2019. Normally I would pick the school with the earlier start date, but the MSW program at WUSTL has really caught my eye.
